Week 7 of the NFL 2016 season is just around the corner and we serve up choice straight up NFL picks for your weekly betting thrills. Dive in with these game-by-game picks on your wagering tickets.

Thursday, October 20, 2016Bears vs. Packers

Green Bay Packers are struggling something awful despite a positive 3-2 SU record. Most worrying is the lack of rhythm on the offensive side of the ball, something that was glaringly obvious in last week’s defeat to the Cowboys. Aaron Rodgers and the O-line really need to get it together if they hope to make a run for the playoffs. Minnesota Vikings don’t look to be backing down anytime soon, currently sat atop the NFC North pile with a perfect 5-0 SU record. Fortunately, a date with the hapless 1-5 SU Chicago Bears looms favourably on the horizon. The Bears are struggling on both sides of the ball and don’t strike a convincing pose at all. Put it this way, if the Packers don’t steamroll the Bears on Thursday Night Football the Packers will have a lot to answer to.

Sunday, October 23, 2016Giants vs. Rams

The New York Giants finally stopped the rot with a pivotal win over the Baltimore Ravens at MetLife. They head to the UK for a date with the Los Angeles Rams, who are coming off a narrow loss to the mercurial Detroit Lions. Bookmakers tip this game in the Giants’ camp ever so slightly with NFL odds ranging from -140 and higher depending on your choice sportsbook. By and large, the Giants are considered the better team and Eli Manning the better quarterback compared to his counterpart Case Keenum. Problem is the Giants have been inconsistent, something that might make many NFL bettors wary. That said the Rams are a hit and a miss from week-to-week and they come into this game riding a two-game losing streak and, crucially, a lot of travel. Four of their six games saw the Rams on the away (San Francisco, Tampa Bay, Arizona and Detroit) and now they are set to hit the road again this week. One wonders whether all this travel will finally catch up with them.

 Saints vs. Chiefs

The New Orleans Saints threw down the gauntlet with a 41-38 win over the Carolina Panthers at the Superdome on Sunday, marking only their second win of the season. Thrilling though it was the Saints are still under .500 with a 2-3 SU mark. A date with a tough Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead proves tricky, if not overwhelming. The Chiefs are 3-2 SU on the season, which includes a perfect 2-0 SU mark at home that is underscored by a 13.5 winning margin and a +8.8 differential versus the spread.

Colts vs. Titans

The Colts were dealt a hefty setback in Sunday Night Football when they fritted away  a significant lead in the last quarter and went on to lose in overtime to the Houston Texans. It was quite the turnaround by Brock Osweiler and the Texans defense, mainly. It also highlighted the problems the Colts have on both sides of the ball, glaring holes that even the highest paid quarterback in the league can’t overcome. It remains to be seen whether the Titans can heap more misery on Andrew Luck and Company, but they are riding a two-game winning streak after beating the Dolphins and Browns and that could give them a measure of confidence. Granted neither Cleveland or Miami represent a major scalp but sometimes the simple act of winning is enough to keep the momentum going.

 Vikings vs. Eagles

The Minnesota Vikings look to extend their strong start on the season at the expense of the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, a happenstance that seems quite likely according to the NFL odds. The Vikings are installed as the road favourites with NFL odds ranging from -138 and higher depending on your preferred bookmaker. Given the Vikings are 5-0 SU with an 11.2 winning margin on average and a +10.3 differential versus the spread it’s really hard to bet against them. On the flipside, the love affair with Carson Wentz and the Eagles appears to be over. Two losses in a row since a week 4 bye sees the Eagles slip to 3-2 SU on the season. It’s worth mention the Eagles are still 2-0 SU at home with a whopping 25.0 margin of victory and a +24.8 differential versus the spread. Might it be too soon to write off the Eagles entirely?

Browns vs. Bengals

The Bengals are in dire straits with two costly defeats in a row that send them down to third-place in a tough AFC North on a 2-4 SU mark. They’ve got some ground to cover if they hope to challenge for another divisional title, some of which they should recover in this rather straightforward matchup. The Browns are winless in six games and look to be headed to the drawing board sooner rather than later. They can’t buy a win no matter how hard they try. Colour the world shocked if the Browns pull off the upset here.

Redskins vs. Lions

The Washington Redskins have turned around a 0-2 SU start by reeling off four straight wins. Such a positive run of form is hard to ignore especially when it includes a positive 2-0 SU record on the road with a 4.0 winning margin on average and a +7.8 differential versus the spread. Importantly, they did beat some relatively good teams in Baltimore and NY Giants. It’s not unreasonable to assume the Redskins can beat the Lions on the away too. Let’s face it, the Lions are unpredictable and can flatter to deceive. That said the Lions are riding a mini wave of momentum, a two-game winning streak over the Eagles and Rams. Can that positive run of form be ignored? To all intents and purposes, this game is a right tossup on our week 7 NFL picks and, thus, we’re hedging our bets SU and ATS.

Raiders vs. Jaguars

The Raiders are coming off a loss to the Kansas City Chiefs at home while the Jaguars are coming off a win over the Chicago Bears on the road. Importantly, the Jaguars pulled off a second straight win after beating the Colts at Wembley in London. It’s the first positive run of form by Blake Bortles and Company and they’ll be eager to continue it at the expense of one of the leakiest defenses in the league. In fact on the weakness of that defense Blake Bortles and the Jaguars O-line could finally find its rhythm.

Bills vs. Dolphins

The Bills are riding a furious wave of momentum one that the Miami Dolphins might struggle to contain. Sure the Dolphins beat the Pittsburgh Steelers last week but there’s a caveat there: Big Ben was injured. Everybody and their grandmother knows the Steelers are simply not the same without their star quarterback. In any event, the Bills are hot on the trot and the Dolphins flatter to deceive time and time again. Hard to bet against the Bills now.

Ravens vs. Jets

The Jets are a complete and utter mess. Shockingly so. Many NFL bettors expected much more from a team that is loaded on both sides of the ball. There’s something to be had about getting a tough schedule. Had those losses been competitive or close then that argument might hold water. What is fast becoming obvious is Ryan Fitzpatrick is simply not up for the task and struggling to replicate what he accomplished in 2015. The Jets are losing games in the double-digits. Ravens are coming off their third straight loss but, unlike the Jets, those losses were close and more often than not featured late-game collapses. If they can somehow find a way to close out games convincingly things would look up.

Buccaneers vs, 49ers

Ok, so Colin Kaepernick didn’t lead the Niners to a victory in his first start. Perhaps, some allowance should be made for rustiness on his part and, not least of all, the quality of the opponent. The Bills are hot on the trot and tough to beat these days (who’d have thunk, it?). In any event, Kaepernick and the Niners return to Levi Stadium for week 7 where they have a reasonable shot of winning against a Buccaneer’s team that only a few weeks ago saw its coach call out the quarterback. The Bucs did beat noteworthy opponents Falcons and the Panthers but those are divisional rivalries. They’ve beaten no other team and take a 2-3 SU mark on the season to Santa Clara. Dunno but this looks to be more wide open than the NFL odds-makers would have it.

Falcons vs. Chargers

The Atlanta Falcons were a few plays away from gaining potentially a third big scalp on the season, following wins over Denver and Carolina. The loss to Seattle was a bitter pill to swallow in the end. Still, the Falcons return home having gained plenty of new fans who are buying what they are selling after week 6. Matt Ryan and Company will be eager to get back on track when they face a San Diego Chargers side that leaves many NFL bettors puzzled. Yes, the Chargers beat Denver on Thursday. Prior to that though they were giving away games generously to opponents and doing anything they could to lose, making it hard to believe they’re for real. Until proven otherwise Falcons are the better week 7 NFL pick we’d wager.

Patriots vs. Steelers

What might have been a highly anticipated AFC showdown now looks to be a straightforward matter for Bill Belichick and the Patriots. No Big Ben takes the shine off of the Steelers and their NFL odds in this game. History proves the Steelers struggle to win without their choice quarterback. Patriots, meanwhile, are riding a two-game winning streak with Tom Brady and bring a 5-1 SU mark on the season to Heinz Field. Hard to go against the form team on week 7 NFL picks, isn’t it.

Seahawks vs. Cardinals

The Cardinals bounced back with a solid  win over the NY Jets in Monday Night Football betting, but there’s not a lot of takeaway from a win over a struggling team is there. Fact is Carson Palmer and the Arizona offense haven’t looked quite the same as they did in 2015. Until they can beat a serious contender such as the Seattle Seahawks are according to Super Bowl LI betting markets it’s going to be difficult to buy their stock. The Seahawks aren’t without their own issues but time and time again they find ways to win, even if it’s ugly football.

Monday, October 24, 2016Texans vs. Broncos

Brock Osweiler and the Houston Texans are coming off a win over the Colts in overtime. Impressively they turned around a double-digit deficit to take the win. The Broncos, meanwhile, are coming off their second straight defeat. They look to have come back down to earth, which might not be a bad thing at all. It’s worth pointing out though their last two games featured some trials and tribulations with Trevor Siemian’s injury and Gary Kubiak’s hospitalization. Things look to be back on track with the pair ahead of this Monday Night Football clash, which is an auspicious sign. Texans are 0-2 SU on the road with a -22.0 losing margin and a -19.5 differential versus the spread.
