Week 5 has some of the most intriguing totals of the year, especially in the early slate of games. Here are my two best total plays to bring you some profit this week's NFL Odds.

 Washington Redskins vs Baltimore Ravens

The Redskins secondary is down to second and third stringers almost entirely behind Josh Norman right now and even he hasn’t been playing that great. With all of the injuries and Norman not playing up to his potential, Washington is very vulnerable to giving up some points this week.

The Ravens’ defense has been very good against the run so far this week, but who are we kidding? The Skins are going to throw the ball 40-plus times on Sunday in this battle of the Beltway and with it basically being a home game for both teams, I am loving the fact that this one could get out of hand defensively.

So far this season, Washington has given up 28 points per game and their secondary is allowing over 280 passing yards per game as well. Baltimore’s defensive numbers overall are impressive, but the quality of offenses they have played in the first quarter of the season is suspect. They beat up on the likes of Jacksonville, Cleveland and Buffalo, but the Redskins’ passing offense is far superior.

This is a great rivalry game as well between two teams that play about 30 miles from one another. Even though the game is in Baltimore. Redskins nation will be traveling for this one. Even though the under is 4-1 since 1992 in this rivalry Washington comes into this one cashing the over in all four of their games, while Baltimore has cashed the over in two of their last three.

Cincinnati Bengals vs Dallas Cowboys

This one might be an even better over value. Even though the Bengals look like they once again will be without Tyler Eifert after he suffered a setback, it might not matter. Both of these defenses have had their issues heading into this one and it stems from poor secondary play.

The Bengals might once again be without Dre Kirkpatrick, which hurts their secondary, while the Cowboys’ passing defense has been even worse this season giving up 263 passing yards per game.

Don’t be fooled by both teams’ good points against numbers either. Other than games against the Redskins, Broncos and Steelers, the other combined five games for these two teams have come against offenses that rank in the bottom half of the league in scoring at the quarter mark. Plus, each of them have played two games against teams averaging less than 20 points per game. Did their defenses have something to do with that?

Yes, of course. However, the Cowboys’ offense has gained more yards that any team not named the Falcons, while the Bengals’ passing game has them ranked third in that department so far this season. Take the over on this one as well for your week 5 NFL picks.
