We cashed our lone prop betting pick for Sunday Night Football thanks to several long grabs from Alshon Jeffery, and now I’m looking towards another receiver for Monday Night Football between Atlanta and Seattle.
Atlanta's Sanu is on pace to set a career high in receptions this season, and even though we haven’t seen too many big games from him in 2017 you can bet that he will be needed tonight in Seattle.
Usually we think about the Seahawks as tough on opposing receivers, but a couple of injuries have this secondary looking a little shaky. Top cornerback Richard Sherman has been lout for a little while now and is done for the year, and Seahawks also recently lost their Pro Bowl safety Kam Chancellor. That’s a lot of defensive firepower not in this game, and I think that’s where the Falcons will attack tonight in the battle of the birds.
What secondary the Seahawks have left will be keyed in on Julio Jones, and in my eyes that means Sanu is going to be open across the middle more often than not. He is coming off a game where he got only five targets in a game the Falcons had under control vs. Dallas, but in this one if the Falcons are playing from behind, I expect Sanu to be targeted heavily. In games the Falcons have lost this season, Sanu has seen a total of 16 targets, but more important is his average in yards per catch recently. In games where Sanu has at least 7 yards per catch, the Falcons are 5-2 this season.
Furthermore, the Seahawks’ defense is slowly getting worse against opposing receivers, and it won’t help that they are now without Chancellor as well. Over their last three games, Seattle has given up a total of 232 yards per game to opposing receivers on 40 catches. If we can expect an average of 13 catches and 232 yards from the Falcons receivers tonight, the odds of Sanu going over his yards total are very good.Free NFL Pick: Over 40.5Best Line Offered: Bovada
