With the NFL season around the corner, NFL betting markets are slowly expanding. Here we look at all the AFC East futures currently available for NFL bettors to sink their teeth into.
AFC East Division Odds
Defending champions New England Patriots emerge as the hot favorites to win the AFC East across all sports betting platforms. For good reason, obviously. Since 2000, the Patriots have won 12 division titles. Eleven title in the last 12 seasons, including six in a row from 2009 up to this point. As well, they won four Super Bowls during the Brady-Belichick era (2001, 2003, 2004 and 2014).
Going into the 2015-2016 NFL season, they are looking to win a seventh divisional title. That and potentially pull off a successful Super Bowl defense campaign, something they accomplished between 2003-04. As it is, they are trading as the clear-cut faves at -163 NFL odds to win outright the AFC East. Well ahead of second favorites Miami Dolphins at +400 NFL odds, third favorites Buffalo Bills at +425 NFL odds and the NY Jets, the long shots of the division at +900 NFL odds.
Division of AFC Championship Odds
NFL bettors can bet on which AFC division will win the AFC Championship. This is a great market for neutral NFL bettors to sink their teeth into or those NFL bettors that are torn between a couple of teams within one particular division in the conference.
As far as the AFC East is concerned, the section is favored in this market at +150 NFL odds to win the AFC Championship game and send a representative into the Super Bowl. That's largely down to the New England Patriots, who have reached the AFC Championship game four years running. That and nine times since 2001, the year that marked Tom Brady's first Super Bowl win.
Naturally, the second favorite division at +260 NFL odds in this section is the AFC West; once again, down almost exclusively to the Peyton Manning-led Denver Broncos. The AFC North though at +275 is a tempting alternative because it boasts two legitimate contenders in the Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers. The AFC South can only realistically serve up Indianapolis Colts as legitimate contenders for the AFC Championship game; hence, they are the long shots at +450 NFL odds with a 1 in 4 shot to win the AFC Championship game behind a first time Super Bowl appearance by Andrew Luck.
It's woth noting that the NFC is currently favored over the AFC to win Super Bowl 50, not unlike last season. The NFC has the market cornered on at -135 NFL odds in winning conference markets. The AFC is trading at +115 NFL odds.
To Win Outright Super Bowl 50
Defending champions New England Patriots emerge as the third favorites overall to win the Super Bowl 50 at +700 NFL odds. Only the Seattle Seahawks at +450 and Green Bay Packers at +650 are trading shorter than the Patriots, who are the indisputable AFC East standard. The Dolphins and Bills (both at +3300) and the Jets (+6600) are serious long shots on your NFL picks to win the coveted prize.
