Preseason is almost over, which is somewhat unfortunate for us because we have been crushing the preseason with our NFL Picks. After splitting a pair of picks in Week 3, I am back for the final week with Titans vs. Dolphins.

Week 4 Depth Chart Battles
These two teams are going to have some tough roster decisions to make after this game, so while it doesn’t mean anything in the grand scheme of things, it could come down to performances on Thursday for several players on the bubble in Miami and Nashville.

Both of these teams are pretty deep too. The presumed backups in Matt Cassel and Matt Moore both have good NFL regular season experience, while the third string QBs are intriguing as well in Logan Thomas and Alex Tanney.

Both clubs have nice running back depth that needs sorting out in this one, so with young players that need to play, it’s hard to rely on this game as one for the under.

Week 4 of the preseason has been a great under bet over the last few years, much like Week 1 has been. In the last two seasons, the under has cashed at 19-12-1 in Week 4 of the preseason. However, with the quantity depth on offense that these teams have, the amount of guys with NFL experience that will play in this game is more than most. This could lead to a high scoring game, so while the total for this one is sitting at 39 ½, one of the higher Week 4 totals, I think I am laying off that number and going with the spread instead.

Tennessee Titans vs Miami Dolphins
Right now BetOnline sportsbook has the Dolphins as -2 ½ favorites in this one at -115, while others like Bookmaker have the Dolphins as -3, +105. About half the sportsbooks are carrying at -3 line right now, but for the ones that are at -2½, I am going after it right now. Obviously, the depth is there with both teams, but right now the more quality depth is in Miami.

Coach Mike Mularkey has already stated that his starters will play on Thursday, but only in one series. That is not going to be enough to take down this Miami team at home, even if they follow suit and don’t play theirs much either.

The Dolphins not only have the better team behind their starters, they also have a new head coach who likely needs this game a little more to evaluate than Mularkey does, even though Mularkey has only been on the job since the middle of last season. Adam Gase, on the other hand, needs to figure out his own depth chart as a brand new head coach, which means that even though he will be in evaluation mode, he will also want to win this game.

Gase has brought an offense to Miami that might have some staying power. Even though his starters won’t be on the field long, or at all on Thursday, whoever is in the game is going to be running down the field. With the better passing game and home field advantage too, take Dolphins for your NFL pick.
