We’ve identified 2 totals selections on Wednesday’s NHL card which will be the main topics of this betting preview article. Read our informative piece to find out exactly why we like these picks.

Battle of Canadian Teams in Winnipeg on Wednesday
The Winnipeg Jets entertain the Ottawa Senators tonight at 7:35 PM ET. According to the NHL betting odds at Bookmaker, the total in this contest is 5.0.This will be the second meeting of the season between these teams in the 2014-2015 NHL campaign. Winnipeg was a 2-1 winner at Ottawa way back on November 8th. Ottawa defeated Winnipeg in both encounters last season, and each of those games easily went over the total.

Ottawa Goaltender Rusty
Craig Anderson is scheduled to be in goal tonight for the Ottawa Senators. This will be Anderson’s first start since January 21st, and since that time has been recovering from an injury. It would be hard to imagine that he’ll be razor sharp after such a long layoff. Anderson has seen ten of his fourteen starts this season go over the total when facing a nonconference opponent. He’s also seen just one of his previous six overall stay under the number. Ottawa has scored three goals or more in seven of their previous nine games.

Jets soaring over the Number
The Winnipeg Jets have seen six of their last seven games go over the total. As a matter of fact, Winnipeg has stayed under the number in just six of their previous thirty-one games (19.4%).

Free NHL Pick: Play on Ottawa and Winnipeg to go over the total of 5.0 at Bookmaker.

Penguins at the Pepsi Center in Denver
The Colorado Avalanche will host the Pittsburgh Penguins tonight at 10:05 PM ET. According to the NHL betting odds at BetOnline, the posted total in this game is 5.5. These teams have met once this season, and the Penguins skated away with a 1-0 home win.

Ear Marks of a High Scoring Contest
The Pittsburgh Penguins have gone over the total in each of their previous four games, and they scored four goals or more in all of those contests. The Colorado Avalanche has gone under the total in only two of their previous ten games, and there was an average of 6.8 goals scored per contest. The scheduled starting goaltender tonight is Semyon Varlamov, and he’s been a bit shaky of late. Varlamov has seen three of his last four starts go over the total while posting an unimpressive .885 save percentage in those outings. I’m leaning toward this one playing on the high side of the totals ledger, and one of my NHL picks on Wednesday is reflective of just that.

Free NHL Pick: Play on Pittsburgh and Colorado to go over the total of 5.5 at BetOnline.
