The 0-2 Detroit Lions will head to the home of the 2-0 Arizona Cardinals. Arizona certainly isn’t the same rusty team as they were last year. As for the Lions, well they’re used to losing.
Detroit Lions vs. Arizona Cardinals
Sunday, September 27, 2020 – 04:25 PM EDT at State Farm Stadium
No surprise here that the Lions are the underdogs on the road. They’re coming off of a brutal 41-21 loss against the Packers and Lambeau Field. Detroit has been 2-11 against the spread in its last 13 games. As for the Cardinals, well they just shut down The Washington Football team 30-15 at home. Read on for our NFL pick.
Why Lions Will Win
Week 3 and still no win, so they’ve got to be hungrier now. QB1 Matt Stafford has been productive with 541 passing yards with three TD’s. Stafford is always among the NFL passing yards leaders, unfortunately, the rest of the team (aka the defense) has yet to do their part.
The Lions signed on NFL veteran Adrian Peterson just before the season who has accumulated 134 yards on an average of over six yards per attempt. Detroit also has rookie D’Andre Swift and third-year RB Kerryon Johnson.
In the first two games, the Lions’ offense has been impacted by the absence of their #1 WR Kenny Golladay. However, he’s supposed to return this game. Golladay has registered over 1000 receiving yards in two consecutive years. It’s clear that the offense isn’t the problem, they’ll have to work on their defense before Sunday.
Why Cardinals Will Win
People are hopping on the Arizona Cardinals bandwagon and it's understandable. Kyler Murray is having an outstanding year and it’s only been two weeks. It helps with the addition of DeAndre Hopkins of course. The two have established a natural connection.
Hopkins has posted 219 receiving yards on a whopping 22 receptions. He will be targeted heavily against the Lions’ corners, but that’s nothing to worry about. The Cardinals' offense had a healthy balance and is dangerous both in the air and on the ground. On the defensive side of things, they have held their opponents to only 20 and 15 points.
Based on what the Cardinals have done so far this season and Kyler Murray’s performance, the Lions don’t stand a chance to beat
