The Tennessee Titans visit the New York Jets for this 1:00 ET kickoff in New Jersey. Last week, the Titans beat the Jaguars (42-39), they outrushed the Jags 210-81 and outgained them 467-383. The Jets, on this very field, scored 10 points in the last four and a half minutes, then kicked the game winner for a 23-20 victory against the New York Giants. The Jets won the yardage, 463-355.

The Titans’ victory was akin to a blind pig finding an acorn. It lifted them to 5-23 SU of late. The Jets’ victory provided them some major momentum in the Wild Card race, as they are now tied at 7-5 SU with the Steelers and Chiefs.

Titan Surprise
The Titans’ win was so unusual because they are one of the most impotent teams in the NFL. They average just 20 PPG and only 327 YPG. Seven of the 12 weeks, Tennessee has scored 14 or fewer points. Just such could be the case this week, as they are clearly due for a reversal of form. Consider that the Titans are 7-18 ATS as underdog of late, and stand 0-11 ATS following a 28 point or more offensive outburst. Tennessee rookie QB Mariota was under pressure the entire week from the Jacksonville defensive front. The pressure he faced last week is far less than what he will be up against when the NY Jets apply pressure.

Jets Momentum
The Jets’ rush defense is ferocious and will have rookie QB Mariota on his heels all day. Don’t expect the Titans’ run game to get on track, as New York allows just 84/3.6 overland. That victory on this field last week, combined with a (38-20) win on this field two weeks ago against Miami, provides huge home field momentum for a New York team which realizes the importance of this victory since they must still face New England, as well as traveling to Dallas and Buffalo. The Jets’ offense is led by underrated QB Fitzpatrick. He has a solid 22/11 ratio and is backed by a ground game that controls the proceedings by rushing an average of 29 times per game. With the combined edge on both offense and defense, the Jets take care of business in a big way!

I invite you to put the NFL odds in your favor and join me for my NFL pick on the New York Jets as the CRUSHER OF THE WEEK. Let’s hope it is as easy as the Pittsburgh Steelers NFL CRUSHER OF THE WEEK last Sunday night.
