Jacksonville is coming off a bye after beating Bills to go to 2-5, & because the AFC South is awful, they're still in the hunt for the division lead. However, they're a NFL odds underdog at New York.

The NFL odds took a while to open up as we weren’t sure of the quarterbacking situation. Once it appeared that Ryan Fitzpatrick would play, the line opened up with the Jets laying seven points. The Jets are 11th in points scored and 12th in points allowed, while the Jaguars are 22nd and 31st in points scored and allowed, respectively. The Jaguars get a little credit because they're coming off a bye, but still, the Jets are a better football team on both sides of the ball.

Injuries
WR Marqise Lee is still battling a hamstring injury and the Jaguars are being cautious with him, and he didn't take part in practice on Monday. Neither did G Zane Bealdes because of his foot injury, while S James Sample was in a non-contact jersey because of his shoulder. TE Marcedes Lewis also wasn't in practice on Monday, but there was no injury and he should be on the field on Sunday.

QB Fitzpatrick has a torn ligament in his left thumb, which is his non-throwing hand, while Smith has a bad shoulder as he got hurt after replacing Fitzpatrick. That could leave rookie Bryce Petty as the starter, but it looks like Fitzpatrick will play if he can take the pain. WR Brandon Marshall has an ankle injury that has him questionable for this week.

Trends
The Jaguars have covered the spread in three of seven games this season, and they're 4-7-1 ATS in their last 12 on the road. The Jets are 7-2-1 ATS in their last 10 games, including five of six at home.

Jacksonville is actually 6-4 SU and ATS in 10 meetings with the Jets since 1996, and a decent 3-4 in seven trips to New Jersey, including 4-3 ATS.
