In Week 12, we went 2-1-1 ATS in our NFL picks, and we are gunning for another winning week. Let’s check out what the Swinger has in store and pad our bankroll.

Swinger’s 2017 NFL Record: 14-20-1 ATS (-13.0 Units)

Over the last two weeks, we have gone 4-2-1 against the number (+7.5 Units), which won’t buy us first-class airfare to some tropical destination but it keeps us afloat and in the game. Let’s check out the NFL odds in Week 13 and get a sweep in our NFL picks so we can enter the homestretch of the season with a full head of steam.

Also, don’t forget to check out my colleague the Woodman, featured each week in this column, who saw his white-hot winning streak snapped in Week 11 only to deliver an easy winner with Green Bay +14 over the Steelers last week. The man is 9-3 this season, and he wants more of the bookmaker’s money!

Lions (+3) at Ravens

The wild card here is the health of Detroit quarterback Matthew Stafford who was knocked out of his team’s last game briefly with an ankle injury. Fortunately, the Lions have had 10 days to rest after their 30-23 Thanksgiving loss to the Vikings. On the flip side, the Ravens are working on a short week after their 23-16 Monday night win over the Texans.

If Stafford is healthy this is a big bet, but with his mobility in question I am downsizing my units but still feel Detroit’s offense can manage enough points against a stout Ravens defense to keep pace with Joe Flacco and his anemic offensive attack.

Broncos (Pick) at Dolphins

It’s hard to get excited about backing a team that has lost and failed to cover the number in seven consecutive games. However, when I look across the field at who they are playing, it’s worth a wager. The Dolphins are in shambles too, having lost five straight and failing to cover in their last six contests. At least the Denver defense can be disruptive and their quarterback Trevor Siemian is better, believe it or not, than anyone under center for Miami, especially Jay Cutler in the twilight of his career.

The Fins rank 30th of 32 teams in both points scored and points allowed, which means they don’t do much right except draw penalties from the likes of Ndamukong Suh. Although there was a flu bug going around the Denver locker room earlier in the week, that won’t prevent us from fading the Fish. Broncos get a win … finally.

Chiefs at Jets (+3½)

Say what you want about the Jets, and trust me I’ve said plenty, but they are a gritty group this season. New York is in the middle of the pack in all the major statistical categories (points for, points against, passing yards, rushing yards) and is certainly equipped to handle a free-falling Chiefs team that has lost and failed to cover five of its last six games.

Chiefs QB Alex Smith has lost his mojo primarily because Kareem Hunt appears to have hit the rookie wall. If defenses aren’t concerned about your run game then they can key on your passing game, which is exactly what has happened to this beleaguered Kansas City offense. This game is more of a pick’em to me, which means getting north of a field goal headstart with the home team. the Jets launch on Sunday.

The Woodman’s Corner (9-3 ATS, +5.7 Units)

As stated above, last week the Woodman targeted an easy winner with the Packers last Sunday plus a boatload of points against the Steelers. When the dust settled, it was Pittsburgh kicking a successful field goal with no time left on the clock to capture a 31-28 win.

This week the Woodman’s penchant for pups continues as he is taking a big chunk of cash and plunking it down on the Houston Texans in Tennessee. Houston has covered its last two contests and the Woodman says, “Three’s a charm.”
