With Week 3 NFL betting lines reopening following a furious week 2 around the NFL, we sift through the NFL odds and serve up straight up bets to spot for each and every game in week 3.

Week 2 NFL Betting Recap
Another rollicking week in the NFL is in the books. How did we do with our game-by-game NFL picks, you may be wondering? It was another good week for SU and ATS NFL picks, but, admittedly, our Totals did so-so. Importantly, records are in the green after two weeks of predicting each and every game.

Houston Texans vs. New England Patriots
The New England Patriots were offered up as the distinct home favourites in advanced lines from Westgate Las Vegas Sportsbook last week. That changed immediately following Jimmy Garoppolo’s injury against the Dolphins. In a complete fence jump bookmakers reopen with the Patriots as the home underdogs. Granted nominally so, but, still, it’s not often that the Pats are dogs at home, in the house the Bill Built, so the saying goes. Are we really all in with the Texans? Sure they are up 2-0 SU and ATS after two weeks but they beat the Bears and a very disorganised Chiefs side in week 2. Is that enough to endorse a road win at the Foxboro? You know the Pats and the next man up philosophy. That happens to be Jacoby Brissett, an unknown in the context of the NFL but a rookie quarterback who did his job well enough considering he was literally thrown into the game with barely enough warm up snaps on Sunday. Don’t know about you but betting against the Pats doesn’t seem to be the smartest NFL betting strategy, no disrespect to J.J. Watt and his motley crew.

Free NFL Pick: Patriots +113

Arizona Cardinals vs. Buffalo Bills
The Arizona Cardinals lit up University Phoenix Stadium last week, bouncing back effectively after a week 1 loss to Garoppolo and the Patriots. Granted it was the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a side that finished below .500 last season. However, they were talked up something huge following the win over Atlanta Falcons in their week 1 opener. In any event, make of week 2 what you will. What we can all agree on though is the Bills leave much to be desired. They are 0-2 SU on the season and Rex Ryan’s welcome in Buffalo is wearing thin. To all intents and purposes this is a must-win for the Bills – a 0-3 SU record to start the season will effectively eliminate them from the playoffs before the season has had time to really heat up. Not to mention, the playoff drought will continue to reach a new record. Beating Carson Palmer and the Cards if they bring the same kind of form to Buffalo is a tough assignment. Not looking good for the Bills, is it.

Free NFL Pick: Cardinals -205

Oakland Raiders vs. Tennessee Titans
How convincing were the Titans in  their 16-15 win over the Lions? There are those NFL bettors that would argue the Lions lost the game rather than the Titans won the game. Is everybody really surprised the Raiders lost to the Falcons at home in week 2? It appears there are those that are, going so far as to call it a stunner. Well, perception is a funny thing. The reality is the Raiders are all hype until proven otherwise. Jack Del Rio might have even cost the Raiders the game, going for it on a fourth down with 7 minutes or more still left on the clock rather than playing it safe with a field goal. Clearly, the ballsy two-point conversion at the Superdome that sealed the road win got to his head. It doesn’t pay to be too greedy. In any event, this is a tossup of a matchup. Last term, the Raiders won this game by a narrow margin. According to 2016 defensive stats, in which the Titans rank 13th while the Falcons are 28th and the Saints are 30th, this matchup represents the best defense the Raiders come across this month. Could be the difference in the win column.

Free NFL Pick: Titans -119

Cleveland Browns vs. Miami Dolphins
Things go from bad to worse for the Cleveland Browns as they lose yet another quarterback. RGIII suffered an injury in week 1. Now Josh McCown suffers an injury after playing just one game. By all accounts, McCown is a very popular guy and there isn’t a single person in the NFL betting world that isn’t gutted for the guy. Well, maybe only rookie Cody Kessler who gets the start against the Dolphins. It’s been a remarkable couple of weeks for rookie quarterbacks in the NFL, prompting some to consider the Browns. According to the rookie’s own words he over-prepared last week just in case. Hmmm…Be that as it may, the Dolphins are very physical and already responsible for two quarterback injuries in the span of two weeks – Wilson suffered a high ankle sprain in week 1 while Garoppolo suffered an ACL sprain last Sunday. Metal armour might not protect the kid in the face of the Dolphins defense. One fears for the guy. On the flipside, the Dolphin offense really struggled in the first half against the Patriots. Ryan Tannehill was totally off the mark and not until his defense eliminated Garoppolo did he settle into the game and find a rhythm. Not convinced by the Dolphins as a result. Not to mention, they look overcooked as the whopping -600 home favourites. They may well be the smart SU bet but we’re not biting at that kind of money. In fact, it’s worth going against the NFL odds here and tickling the Browns as the +450 road underdogs on your NFL picks. Don’t go betting the farm on it though. Chances are it won’t pay out are high.

Free NFL Pick: Browns +450

Baltimore Ravens vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
The Ravens found ways to beat the Bills and Browns and emerge at the top of the AFC North with a 2-0 SU record. That they had to labour to win both those games takes the shine off of their NFL odds. That being said the Jaguars laid an egg in San Diego. After nearly beating the Packers to flat-line so badly…beggars belief. It’s time to put up or shut up Jacksonville.

Free NFL Pick: Ravens -115
Best Line Offered: at Heritage

Detroit Lions vs. Green Bay Packers
Last term, the Lions served up the upset at Lambeau when they defeated Aaron Rodgers and the Packers 18-16. It prompted a complete and utter turnaround in fortunes for the Lions, who ended up finishing 6-2 SU down the stretch. What are the chances they’ll repeat that win at Lambeau? Slim to none, if the NFL odds were any indication. Green Bay are coming off a loss to Minnesota in week 2. They’ll be chomping at the bit to rebound in week 3 NFL betting.

Free NFL Pick: Packers -360
Best Line Offered: at 5Dimes

Denver Broncos vs. Cincinnati Bengals
The Denver Broncos are 2-0 SU and ATS while the Bengals are 1-1 SU and 0-2 ATS. Yet, the Bengals entered the NFL betting market as the firm home favourites. Bengals are notoriously tough to beat at home, particularly at the 1PM ET time slot when Andy Dalton admittedly plays his best football. As it is, the NFL betting lines for this game have come off the board on the heels of a reported injury to Andy Dalton. Obviously, that alters the NFL betting outlook and if Dalton is ruled out it could very well see this game jump fence when the market reopens. However, for our money, we’re backing the Denver Broncos regardless. That defense is nothing to sniff at and so far has been largely behind the 2-0 start on the season. Defense wins games. Heck, even, championships

Free NFL Pick: Broncos
Best Line Offered: No Lines Offered At The Time Of Publishing

Minnesota Vikings vs. Carolina Panthers
Sam Bradford’s debut as the Vikings starter couldn’t have gone better had he scripted it himself. Next up, the Carolina Panthers on the road. A stiff contest and one he’s unlikely to win, if the NFL odds were any indication. Super Cam and the Panthers found their mojo at the expense of the Niners. They are 8-2-0 ATS and 10-0-0 SU in their last ten home games. Hard to argue with those stats.

Free NFL Pick: Panthers -325
Best Line Offered: at 5Dimes

Washington Redskins vs. NY Giants
The Redskins are not liking their 0-2 SU start one bit and it appears their quarterback is taking the brunt of the dissatisfaction in the locker room. It doesn’t inspire much confidence in the Redskins ahead of their date with divisional rivals, NY Giants. Eli Manning and the G-men are a solid 2-0 SU and ATS and, importantly, they are playing some smart football behind a shored up defense.

Free NFL Pick: Giants -216
Best Line Offered: at Heritage

Los Angeles Rams vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Rams served up the 9-3 upset over the Seattle Seahawks in week 2 without throwing a single touchdown. In fact, the Rams haven’t recorded a touchdown in 2016. Hardly a ringing endorsement of the Rams offense, is it? The Bucs came crashing back down to earth in week 2. You could say Carson Palmer and the Cards treated Jameis Winston and the young Bucs to an NFL clinic. In more ways than one this is a tossup for our NFL picks. When in doubt go with the home team?

San Francisco 49ers vs. Seattle Seahawks
The Seahawks (1-1 SU and 0-2 ATS) offense is non-existent largely because of Russell Wilson’s ankle injury. A mobile quarterback needs his legs and if he can’t move and do what he does best the Seahawks offense is sure to suffer. In spite of their visible struggles the Seahawks are trading as runaway favourites at -500 NFL odds or thereabouts depending on your choice top-rated sportsbook. That’s quite the price tag all things being considered. Probably, not worth the bet. The San Francisco 49ers are 1-1 SU and ATS but coming off a huge loss to the Panthers on the road. A second straight road game isn’t ideal and especially against a divisional foe that has had your number in recent seasons.

Free NFL Pick: No official pick until Wilson’s status confirmed

NY Jets vs. Kansas City Chiefs
The Jets bounced back in week 2 with a solid win in Buffalo and look to keep the momentum going in week 3 at the expense of the Kansas City Chiefs. Arrowhead is a tough nut to crack, underscored by the come-from-behind win by the Chiefs over the Chargers in week 1. However, the Chiefs were horrible in week 2 in Houston, a side they decimated in the playoffs last year (albeit with a different quarterback). The Chiefs were sloppy, wholly off form and colour. The Jets are sneaky good and we’re not ready to write them off for the road win, even though bookies are doing exactly that.

San Diego Chargers vs. Indianapolis Colts
The Chargers improve to 1-1 SU and ATS following a convincing win over the Jaguars at home. The most expensive player in the NFL leads a 0-2 SU and ATS Colts into week 3, desperate to stem the losing streak. Neither side has much of a defense to speak of so this could be a wide open game that goes either way. Luck’s big pay cheque makes him a bit of a target, don’t you think. Lots of players are just chomping at the bit to show up Indy’s prized morsel as an overpriced and overrated player, it would seem. Think Phillip Rivers might fancy a crack too?

Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Philadelphia Eagles
The Eagles are soaring behind back-to-back wins over the Browns and Bears, a run of form that has everybody waxing lyrical about Carson Wentz. On one hand, there’s much to be admired in the rookie who is showing poise and composure in his NFL debut. It’s the Browns and Bears, though! NFL teams, yes, but, lightweights in the context of the league destined to prop up the NFL table when all is said and done. Let’s see if Wentz makes the grade against a heavyweight before the cooing on this end begins. Oh, look. A heavyweight looms in week 3. Finally, a litmus test for Wentz and the revamped Eagles.

Chicago Bears vs. Dallas Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys finally get a win without Tony Romo this season at the expense of a hapless and erratic Washington Redskins side. In week 3 of the season, they catch another break with a team that seems to be short on talent and confidence. The Bears are 0-2 SU and ATS and giving the Cleveland Browns some competition for the worst team in the NFL this season. Oh, and Cutler’s thumb is injured and might rule him out.

Atlanta Falcons vs. New Orleans Saints
Buoyed by the upset win over the Raiders, Matt Ryan and the Falcons might just fancy their chances at the Superdome in MNF. Certainly, the Saints are going to be in desperation mode and Sean Payton will be feeling the heat following a 0-2 SU start on the season. Go 0-3 SU and Payton might be shown the exit door. Of course, the Saints can turn things around in this matchup if the past NFL betting trends were any indication – the Saints are 15-5 SU overall and 8-2 at home over the Falcons. Sometimes stats just go out of the window for no reason at all. In this case, based on the first two games of each of these teams, one does have to like the Falcons as the underdog NFL pick of the week, right?
