Kam Chancellor

Some teams have cemented their spot near the top of the league, other teams such as the Jets and Browns are having a dismal season. Let's take a look at two NFL picks that are winners with a sizeable profit.

Seattle Seahawks vs Arizona Cardinals

A Defensive Battle?

Quite frankly, I'm a little surprised that 5Dimes Sportsbook has the betting total so high in the NFL Odds for this matchup as this is a battle of two very strong defenses.

You have the Legion of Boom-led by Kam Chancellor and Richard Sherman, and an underrated Arizona Cardinals defense led by Patrick Peterson and the Honey Badger, Tyrann Mathieu. While Russell Wilson and Carson Palmer are two very capable quarterbacks, they're not in the elite class and 44 points is high for the total in this game.

For those of you that thought the Cardinals would collapse, they saved their season last week to even up their record up at 3-3 with an easy 28-3 victory over the New York Jets. The Cardinals defense was so good that the Jets had to resort to a quarterback substitution using Geno Smith late in the game and he was intercepted also. Everyone knows that Larry Fitzgerald is legendary as a member of the Cardinals franchise, but running back, David Johnson, is the catalyst that makes this Cardinals offense effective.

David Johnson

Except for 2 fumbles this season, Johnson has been virtually unstoppable as the entire offensive scheme for the Cardinals revolves around the running of Johnson. He can run the ball effectively and is also a double threat that can catch passes out of the backfield. This was a player that was an outright steal, taken in the 3rd round of the NFL Draft by Arizona in 2015.

Johnson is coming off of a monster performance against the Jets in which he rushed for 111 yards and 3 TD's. For the season, he has 568 yards and 8 TD's rushing and 265 yards receiving. That said, yards and points will be difficult to come by for the Cardinals as this Seattle Seahawks defense is one of the best in the league. While there's been the emergence of players in Johnson and Jimmy Graham for the Seahawks, 44 points is just too much and the under is the bet in this nationally televised game.

New England Patriots vs Pittsburgh Steelers

No Rothelisberger, No Win

The concept for this game is quite clear as Tom Brady will be licking his chops, coming to Heinz Field and knowing that his Patriots won't have to deal with Ben Roethlisberger as Big Ben will be out for a while.

This is a crushing blow for a Pittsburgh team that features the best trio in football of Roethlisberger, Le'Veon Bell, and Antonio.Brown. When Roethlisberger is not playing, it changes the entire complexion of the game as the entire Pittsburgh offense revolves around him. Antonio Brown (486 yards, 5 TD's) may be the best receiver in the league, but he won't be nearly as effective if Landry Jones or another backup quarterback is throwing the football to him; it's been proven in the past.

Making a Statement

At this point in his career, Tom Brady really doesn't have to make a statement as he's one if not the best quarterback in NFL history and still going strong at age 39. Brady is a very competitive player and he'll play the rest of this season with major motivation due to the 4 game suspension that he had to endure at the beginning of the season.

He's already come back stronger than ever and in 2 wins, he's thrown for an astonishing 782 yards with 6 TD's. This is a quarterback that doesn't make mistakes and now that he has a healthy Rob Gronkowski back in the offense, the Patriots offense will cause the Steelers defense fits.

Gronk is coming off of 2 consecutive 100-yard games with a touchdown pass. Last week, Gronk had a masterful performance as he caught 7 passes for 162 yards. The Patriots are so strong that they also have a tight end in Martellus Bennett (362 yards, 4 TD's) that's also a Pro Bowl candidate, one of Brady's favorite targets, and can start for any team in the NFL.

For my NFL Pick on this game, it should not be a surprise to anybody. Due to Ben Roethlisberger not playing, this should be an easy win and cover for New England.
