Chicago Bears team gathered around in field

Swinger is back with his Week 5 NFL picks and will look to continue his winning ways after going 2-1 last week. Let’s see what he’s got up his sleeve this week.

Last week I went 2-1 in Swinger’s NFL picks and added another win in a stand-alone article as I pocketed under in the Monday night Giants/Vikings affair. Thus, my overall Week 4 record ended at 3-1 and for that, I am thankful as I put my Week 3 debacle behind me. But I can’t help gnashing my teeth about the Cleveland Browns not only failing to hold on to their lead but blowing the cover right from underneath me.

Cleveland proved to be my only loss of the week as we clicked with over in the Colts/Jags game as well as the Vikings -5 on Monday night (yes, I also had under in that game as previously stated). As many of you know, the NFL betting odds dropped to 3½ at kickoff but despite taking a poor early number, the game was never in doubt as Minnesota’s cruised to a 24-10 victory. Let’s get after it once again!

Titans (1-2 SU, 1-2 ATS) vs. Dolphins (0-3 SU, 0-2-1 ATS)

Both defenses have ferocious defensive fronts and suspect secondaries. Neither offense scares anyone, as Tennessee ranks 31st in points scored (15.5 PPG) while Miami clocks in at 28th (17.8 PPG). Ryan Tannehill is erratic and Marcus Mariota feels the heat far too rapidly to be effective without time to target his receivers. This one has low scoring written all over it.

Jets (1-3 SU, 1-2-1 ATS) vs. Steelers (3-1 SU, 3-1 ATS)

The squares are lovin’ the Steelers and that makes this line attractive for guys like me. Sure Big Ben looked immaculate last week in his 43-14 evisceration of the Chiefs but this is a Jets defensive front that can get to the quarterback (ranked 5th in sacks) versus Pittsburgh’s opponent last week that had only three sacks all season entering last week’s contest and even they picked up a pair against an inept Steeler’s offensive line. The Steelers have only five sacks on the season and their D-line doesn’t apply much pressure and have a weak secondary to boot. I believe Fitzpatrick will have a bounce-back week and get his share of chances. Grab the generous head start and let the squares lick their wounds once the dust settles in this one.

Bears (1-3 SU, 1-3 ATS) vs. Colts (1-3 SU, 1-3 ATS)

Did you know that the Colts are the first team to play after a London game without having the traditional week off? I’m sure that’s not an advantage which is just another reason why I like the underdog Bears this week. The Colts are putrid on defense and have an offensive line that is exactly that – offensive!

The Colts are favorites here because they are at home and they have a guy named Luck chukin’ the pigskin. But the Bears are the play here as their offense will finally be able to break loose against a porous Colts’ defense. This line has spiraled down as the sharps took several big bites at the early line. However, as long as we are getting north of four points, I’m a happy camper.

The Woodman’s Corner (1-3 ATS)

Much like the Carolina Panthers, the Woodman has disappointed in the early going after a sensational 2015 NFL campaign. Last week he failed with the Kansas City Chiefs but he is still staying true to his penchant for puppies as he declares that the underdog Bolts are this week’s lock-line winner!

Swinger’s Overall 2016 NFL Record: 11-9 (after Week 4)
