Kansas City Chiefs descend on the Indianapolis Colts in week 8. Find out where the value NFL picks are to be had for your money line, spread, and total bets.

Kansas City Chiefs vs Indianapolis Colts
Point Spread Value

The Kansas City Chiefs enter the week 8 date with the Indianapolis Colts as the nominal road faves laying -2.5 points with most top-rated sportsbooks. It’s no surprise considering they’re coming off a 27-21 win over the Saints at the Superdome, marking their second straight win in as many weeks. Now, the Colts are coming off a win over the Titans but few NFL bettors are buying what they are selling right now. Overall, they’ve been a huge disappointment and the money splashed on Luck is becoming more and more difficult to justify. The Colts have yet to beat a team with a winning record this season. Heck, they haven’t done so since last November. Therefore, it is hard to see how they’ll keep this a close game even with home field advantage.

The Survivor

Considering we’re shading the Chiefs to cover as the -2.5 road favorites, it follows they’re to be the choice SU pick as well. Unless, hedging bets were the NFL betting strategy. (For the novice bettor: essentially, it means forsaking one NFL pick (SU or ATS) for the other in order to get at least 50-50 chance of getting this game right). In this case, there’s room for such a strategy simply because Andrew Luck is a game-changer. If there’s anybody that can throw deep and get past defenses it’s the elite quarterback. But, we come back full circle to the point (mentioned above) the Colts haven’t defeated a winning team in almost a year. It means an elite quarterback can’t do it alone and unless the Colts et al suddenly experience a transformation it’s difficult to see how they could beat the Chiefs, who are 4-2 SU and riding a two-game winning streak.

Game Total

Bring out the popcorn, it’s going to be a shootout. So say bookmakers, unanimously. Across the NFL odds board this matchup currently hangs on 50-point total with the Over and Under trading at -110 at early doors. Up from an opening 49-points thanks to 60% of early betting going towards the OVER. Consider Luck and Company are averaging almost 28 points per game – even put up 20 points against a solid Denver defense –and boast a 6-1-0 OVER record, that’s enough reason to shade the OVER. The Chiefs aren’t exactly explosive but when faced with a weak secondary and defense Alex Smith and Company can get it done. Case-and-point: the 33-27 win over San Diego in week 1.
