Join us as we serve up our predictions for each and every game on week 17's NFL odds board. More specifically, we look at total betting NFL odds and provide our OVER-UNDER selections for your NFL picks.
Lions vs. Packers O/U 47.5
If the Lions defense can control Aaron Rodgers and keep him off the scoreboard, the UNDER should prove the winning NFL pick. It remains to be seen whether the Lions' defense is up for the challenge. Although they are conceding less than 17-points per game, their 15th-ranked passing defense is going up one of the best passing offense in the league and the most lethal quarterback on home turf. Packers are averaging 30-plus points per game and boast a 10-5 over-under record on the season, 6-1 over-under at home. Most recently, the won a shootout with the Falcons 43-37 at home.
NFL Picks: Over 47.5
Jaguars vs. Texans O/U 40.5
Overall, the Texans are 7-8 in over-under betting this season, which includes a 3-4 over-under mark at home. Offense is averaging 23.2-points per game while defense is allowing just 19.3-points per game. In their last three games, they haven't allowed more than 17-points against. In fact, Jaguars don't even scratch that mark with an offense that is producing 15.5-points per game. The last meeting between these two teams resulted in a 27-13 win by the Texans, almost smack on the total line rolled out for this game. Texans are coming off a pivotal win over the Baltimore Ravens in week 16 NFL betting that kept their slim playoff hopes alive. The 25-13 win saw the Texans cash for the third time in a row on the UNDER, a game that featured another standout defensive account by J.J. Watt and Company. Given the playoff hopes are hanging by a thread, the Texans are most likely to put a lot more emphasis on defense to win this game. Hence, we fancy the UNDER 40.5 on our NFL picks.
NFL Picks: Under 40.5
Bengals vs. Steelers O/U 47.5
Steelers offense averages 27.3-points per game while their defense is allowing 23.4-points per game. Overall, Steelers have gone 9-6 in over-under betting this season, 6-1 at home. That run of OVER bets cashing snapped against the Kansas City Chiefs last week in a 20-12 win by the Steelers. Indeed, since losing to the Saints 35-32 four weeks ago, the Steelers defense tightened up. Over the last three games, they are only conceding 17.7-points per game, which augurs well for their clash against the Bengals. Five of last six Under. Last meeting went 42-21 in Cincy.
NFL Picks: Over 47.5
Colts vs. Titans O/U 46.0
Indianapolis Colts have been one of the most consistent OVER performers this season, going 9-6 in over-under betting. On the road, they are 5-2 in over-under betting on the road. They boast the No.1 passing offense in the league that averages 305.3 and puts up more than 30-points on average, their 42-7 loss to the Cowboys excluded, of course. Colts offense found little opposition from the Titans earlier this season, easily racing to a 41-17 win. The Colts beat up on lesser teams like no other team in the NFL. And with help from a Titans defense that is giving up 27.4-points per game this season (increased to 28-points in their last seven games), it's not hard to imagine the Colts racking up the points. Will it be enough to push the total OVER 46-points remains to be seen. We think they Colts will want to put in a good show after the beat down they received in Dallas.
NFL Picks: Under 46.0
Browns vs. Ravens O/U 42.5
This is a must-win game for the Ravens if they hope to make the playoffs this season, slim though their chances are. They were frustrated by the Texans last weekend, mustering up only 13-points in a 25-13 loss. Although the Ravens offense has been averaging 26-points per game, they've relied on defense more as the season winds down. On the season, they are 7-8 in over-under betting, which includes a run of two consecutive UNDERs. What's more they are 2-5 in over-under betting at home. Browns have reverted back to Hoyer for their curtain closer. Browns' offense is a modest at best, averaging 19.3-points per game this season. They've cashed on the UNDER in ten of their last eleven games.
NFL Picks: Under 42.5
Bills vs. Patriots O/U 47.5
Bills defense is no slouch, allowing just 18.7-points per game. But they take on the highest scoring offense in the league in week 17 NFL betting. Patriots are averaging 30.6-points per game this season and boast a 10-5 over-under record through 15 games. At home, they are 5-2 in over-under betting. In their last five home games, they've averaged a staggering 39.2-points per game. When Tom Brady and the Patriots light up, they are simply unstoppable.
NFL Picks: Over 47.5
Jets vs. Dolphins O/U 42.0
While Miami are 7-8 in over-under betting this season, they are 4-3 in over-under betting at home. That run of form includes last week's shootout with the Minnesota Vikings that ended 37-35 in favour of the Dolphins. Jets, meanwhile, have cashed on the UNDER is six of their last seven games. A run of form that includes a 16-13 loss to the Dolphins at home.
NFL Picks: Under 42.0
Panthers vs. Falcons O/U 48.0
While the Falcons are just 6-9 in over-under betting this season, they are 4-2 in over-under betting at home. What's more, Matt Ryan and the offense have really kicked it up a notch in the last few weeks. They are averaging 29-points over their last four games. Defense, however, continues to concede a lot of points, an average of 25.5-points. Panthers, meanwhile, are wholly inconsistent from game to game. On a good weekend, they are capable of hanging 30-plus points on opponents. On a bad day, they barely muster up a score let alone two. This game could go either way. For our money, we're going with the OVER 48.0 in a shootout between two sides looking to advance into the knockout rounds.
NFL Picks: Over 48.0
Bears vs. Vikings O/U 43.5
Minnesota Vikings are 4-3 in over-under betting at home this season. When push comes to shove, Teddy Bridgewater and company can put up the points in a hurry. Last week's back-and-forth action in Miami is case-and-point. Chicago Bears are the season's underachievers, both sides of the ball leaving much to be desired. They are out of the playoffs and have nothing to play for, save for pride. On the season, they are 8-7 in over-under betting, thanks to being on the receiving end of a couple of blowouts. Still in a meaningless game, expect both teams to play a bit more freely.
NFL Picks: Over 43.5
Chargers vs. Chiefs O/U 42.0
Chiefs and Chargers collide in a must-win game. Given the sense of urgency and the playoff implications on the line, it's hard to see either side risking too much. Chiefs defense is no slouch, and they'll try to keep Philip Rivers and his offense honest. On the season, Chiefs are 5-10 in over-under betting, a run of form that includes three of their last four games going UNDER.
NFL Picks: Under 42.0
Eagles vs. Giants O/U 52.0
Eagles offense can rack up the points in a hurry; they are averaging 29.3 points per game. Overall, they are 10-5 in over-under betting this season. The Giants offense has, all of a sudden, come to life behind some solid play from Eli Manning and Beckham. The Giants have won three in a row, playing more freely and assertively than they have all season long. What's more, it's extremely attractive, offensive-minded football. Over the course of their three-game winning streak, they are averaging 32.3-points per game. Put these two offenses together and it's no wonder odds makers expect a shootout by rolling out a high 52-point total on the NFL odds board.
NFL Picks: Over 52.0
Cowboys vs. Redskins O/U 49.5
After the offensive clinic the Cowboys put on show at the AT&T stadium last weekend, the OVER looks extremely appealing on our NFL picks for this matchup. Tony Romo and the Cowboys destroyed the Colts 42-7. It was yet another powerhouse account that brings up their average point per game to 40.3 in the last three. Redskins can put up points but they can also concede just as many, if not more as evinced by their minus 110-point differential.
NFL Picks: Over 49.5
Saints vs. Bucs O/U 47.0
Saints and Bucs are both out of the playoffs, playing for pride and to finish the season on a positive note. There's very little incentive otherwise to win this game. Saints' offense can light up, we've seen them do it and as recently as week 15 in a 31-15 win over the Bears. Bucs defense can stifle opponents though. They just held the Packers to 20-points in a week 16 loss and eight of their last nine games have gone UNDER.
NFL Picks: Under 47.0
Rams vs. Seahawks O/U 41.0
Last week, the Seahawks steamrolled Ryan Lindley and the Cardinals in a 35-6 win, a result that marked their first OVER in the last five games. Earlier this season, they lost to the Rams 28-26 on the road, another game that went OVER NFL betting expectations. Seahawks, defense, has really tightened up its game. It's hard to see the Rams repeating their success, never mind putting up many points on the board. The tempting NFL pick here is the UNDER.
NFL Picks: Under 41.0
Cardinals vs. Niners O/U 36.5
This is by far the lowest total on the NFL odds board trading this week. Last week, the Niners managed to put up this total almost singlehandedly in a 38-35 loss to the Chargers. Granted that was a one-off. Prior to week 16 NFL betting, the Niners were lucky if they put up a score, never mind more than that. Cardinals game is underscored by their defense. In fact, it's their only strength right now as they are down to a fourth-string quarterback. This game could go either way, especially when the Niners lit up just last weekend. Perhaps the smart bet would be to take the UNDER 36.5 but given the question marks that hang over the Cardinals' offense, we like the OVER as the Niners runaway with a win in their season curtain closer.
NFL Picks: Over 36.5
Raiders vs. Broncos O/U 47.5
Broncos head to Mile High to close the season against the hapless Raiders. Broncos one of the highest scoring offenses in the league, averaging approximately 30-points per game. Defense isn't too shabby, conceding 22.7-points per game. Overall, the Broncos are 8-6 in over-under betting this season. At home, they are 5-2 in over-under betting. Raiders are debilitating 0-7 SU on the road this season with a whopping 15-point margin of defeat. What's more, they lost 41-17 earlier this eason to the Broncos in Oakland.
NFL Picks: Over 47.5
