The NFL totals took a bite out of this capper last week, as even with three OVERS we whiffed twice, in a week in which 8 games played OVER. Here's hoping Week 13 produces some winning NFL picks.

Cam, Panthers in the Easy
Undefeated Carolina rolls into New Orleans to take on Brew Brees and one of the worst defenses in the NFL.

The Panthers stayed perfect last week, downing Dallas 33-14. Carolina led that game 23-3 at the half and 33-6 late, then allowed the Cowboys to score a meaningless touchdown with four minutes to go to send that game OVER a total of 44 on the NFL odds.

The Panthers aren't exactly known for the offensive prowess but they have now scored at least 27 points nine games in a row.

New Orleans, meanwhile, just lost at Houston 24-6, going without a touchdown for the first time in 10 years.

The Saints should put up some kind of fight today, as a divisional home dog, and that means they should put up at least 21 points. Can Carolina carry this game OVER from there? Considering the New Orleans defense ranks 31st overall and dead last in scoring, we'd say absolutely.

Finally, these teams are a combined 13-7-2 on the OVERS this season, and they played an OVER earlier this season, when the Panthers beat the Saints in Charlotte 27-22. The teams combined for over 800 yards of offense that day.

Classic AFL West Coaster
In a match-up the great Charlie Jones would probably love the hot Chiefs visit the Raiders.

Kansas City has won five games in a row, and scored at least 29 points four times in a row, after beating Buffalo last week 30-22. The Chiefs fell behind the Bills 10-0, then scored 24 points over the next 19 minutes to take the lead, sending that game OVER a total of 41 before the end of the third quarter.

Oakland, meanwhile, just rallied last week to win at Tennessee 24-21. That game was only 10-6 at the half, and 17-14 late, but the Raiders gave up a touchdown to give up the lead, then scored on a David Carr touchdown pass with just over a minute to go to win the game and push the total at 45.

These two teams are a combined 12-7-3 on the OVERS this season, and they met for a pair of OVERS last season, splitting two games by scores of 24-20 and 31-13. And that was with David Carr still just learning the ropes. We could see a good ol' fashioned AFC West shootout breaking out here.

Ben, 'Beck Battle at Heinz
Pittsburgh, coming off a shootout loss at Seattle, hosts Indianapolis, which seems to have taken a shine to its back-up quarterback.

The Steelers just put up 30 on the road at Seattle, and yet that wasn't enough, as Russell Wilson picked the Pittsburgh secondary apart to the tune of five touchdown passes. Pittsburgh has now scored at least 30 points three games in a row, but also given up at least 35 in two of those three games.

The Colts, meanwhile, just won their fourth game this season without Andrew Luck, beating Tampa Bay last week 25-12. Indy is now averaging 23 points per in the four games Matt Hasselbeck has started in Luck's place.

Finally, these teams met for a crazy shootout just last season, Pittsburgh winning at home 51-34 in a game that played OVER a total of 48 before halftime. We don't expect such quick results Sunday night; we'd settle for sometime in the third quarter.
