Pittsburgh Steelers are desperate to stop the rot and a week 11 date with the Cleveland Browns might just be the tonic. Here’s a preview of this AFC North showdown complete with NFL picks SU, ATS and Total

Point Spread Value

Put this way, if the NFL’s equivalent of a punching bag isn’t the tonic to snap a four-game losing streak colour the world shocked. The Browns strike a hapless pose behind a 0-10 SU record. A few optimists remain, who believe the Browns will eventually win ONE game this season, but….don’t reckon it’s this matchup.

Big Ben and Steelers are still steaming from a 35-30 loss to the Cowboys on Sunday, marking their fourth straight defeat. A lot of talk is coming out of their camp about the need to shape up, be more focused, intense and, crucially, disciplined in executing the game plan. The Browns couldn’t have come up on the schedule at a better time. At first glance, the NFL line trading for this week 11 AFC North does seem hefty. But if the alternative is to bet the Browns, who are a league worst 2-8-0 ATS with a -12.6 losing margin and -5.5 differential versus the spread. No thanks. One fears for Hue Jackson’s side and whichever quarterback suits up for this game (lost track of who the starter is…?).

The Survivor

So the Steelers drop a fourth straight game in week 10 and slip to a 4-5 SU record on the season. No need to panic. Well, not this week anyway. They were beat by a good team and, critically, by their own hand. Sloppy penalties, over coaching and aggressive play-calling had them chasing their tails for the better part of the 35-30 loss. For the neutral NFL bettor, it was a rollicking affair as both teams traded the lead multiple times and served up one of the best games of the week. Blah, blah positive takeaways. That aside, looking ahead this has to be the most straightforward NFL pick for week 11.

Game Totals

If there’s one thing well known about the Steelers’ identity it’s that they are aggressive-minded and they’ll go after as many points whenever the opportunity presents. Last week, didn’t go in their favour as they went 0-4 on two-point conversions. Not that you’ll see them apologising for it. Fortune favours the brave, so they say. You can bet Mike Tomlin will go back to the same playbook in week 11, if only to get it right and wipe last week’s memory. The Browns have allowed the most points in the league (301 or 30.1 per game), a consequence that correlates to a 6-4-0 OVER record.
