We’re going to examine the best value on a 2-team teaser wager in the Super Bowl. Join us in reading our valuable insight pertaining to this subject matter. We’ll conclude the article with two suggested Super Bowl 2-team teaser wagers.
Super Bowl Teaser Betting
One of the more popular NFL betting options, besides using the status quo point-spread and total, involves the ability to wager on a teaser. I’m going to be focusing on a 2-team teaser in the Super Bowl during the course of this article. Specifically, our emphasis will be on a 7.0 point two team teaser which requires a wagering increment of $1.30 to make $1.00. According to a consensus of the major sportsbooks NFL odds, New England would be +6.0, Seattle +8.0, the total would be at 40.5 to go over the number, and 54.5 would be the under.
Making a Case for both Sides
As I alluded to in my previously written “Super Bowl Parlay” article, the Patriots have gone a sparkling 167-50 (.790) since the start of the 2003 season, and all of those games came under the watchful eye of head coach Bill Belichick. During that time, the Patriots have lost just 29 of those 217-games (13.4%) by 7-points or more. New England is coming off a 45-7 rout of the Indianapolis Colts in the AFC Championship Game. Since the start of the 2007 season, the Patriots have gone 23-3 (.885) following a game in which they scored 44-points or more.
Since the start of the 2011 season, the Seattle Seahawks have played 70-games, and suffered a loss by 8-points or more on just five occasions. That equates to a miniscule 7.1% of the time. As a matter of fact, the Seahawks sustained only one loss by 8-points or more in 55-games since the start of the 2012 season, and that translates to a mere 1.8% of the time.
Why the Over is the Teaser Play
The New England Patriots have scored 30-points or more in 10 of 18-games this season, and have scored 41-points or more on six separate occasions. Since the start of the 2009 season, the Patriots have gone over the total in 9 of 10-games when the total is 51.0 or less, and they scored 44-points or more in their previous game. Those ten contests averaged a combined 53.9 points scored per game.
Since last season’s Super Bowl, Seattle has gone over the total in all 7-games in which the total was 43.0 or more, and they scored 27-points or more in their previous contest. What goes overlooked in regards to the Seahawks, due to their reputation of being a dominant defense, is the play of their offense. Seattle has averaged a very good 375.4 yards of total offense per game this season.
The beauty of NFL teasers is that you can use both sides and both totals in the same game for multiple bets, and still win on each one of those wagers. That’s just what I’m going to do when making my NFL picks on the Super Bowl.
