The highly-anticipated clash between the Dallas Cowboys and Pittsburgh Steelers practically leaps off the NFL odds board. How should NFL bettors line up their NFL picks in SU, ATS and Total markets?

Dallas Cowboys vs Pittsburgh Steelers

Point Spread Value

When a team boasts the best ATS record in the league it’s hard to bet against them in spread betting markets.  The Cowboys are 7-1-0 ATS (along with the Pats) and feature a 10.4 winning margin and a +9.2 differential versus the spread. This a team that is brimming with confidence and dismissing opponents left and right.  As such, they do warrant a tickle on your NFL picks cover. What is interesting though is the fact that they are road underdogs to a Steelers side that has been a mixed bag of tricks. It says a lot that the odds makers would send the Steelers as the home chalk into a matchup such as this one, nominally though they are favored laying just -2.5 or thereabouts depending on your preferred bookmaker. Last week, Big Ben was clearly not 100% and the Steelers lost to the Ravens, but they very nearly came back from a 21-0 deficit to steal the win. They’ll be pumped to get back into the win column this week and should make it a close and hotly contested affair with the Cowboys. We’re shading the Cowboys to cover as the road underdogs but splitting our week 10 NFL picks with a Steelers straight up win. This is a right tossup in our books.

The Survivor

The Dallas Cowboys are rolling behind a seven-game winning streak and look to go for an eighth in a row at Heinz Field. Arguably, few can claim to have seen a rookie quarterback like Dak Prescott play this good and this deep into a season. Not surprisingly, the Cowboys are the vogue NFL pick across all major markets. However, this is going to be a much tougher matchup than the odds are suggesting. Impressive as the Cowboys have been the Steelers are under a rock and in a hard place, so to speak. They’re coming off a bitter loss to the Ravens and slip in the AFC North. That’s incentive. Never mind Big Ben’s already lost to one rookie this season. He’s not going to appreciate losing to another.

Game Total

There is every indication that this game could turn into a shootout. We already know how potent the Cowboys offense is this season as they are averaging around 30 points per game. Defense has been very solid though and that’s why the Cowboys are 3-5-0 in O/U betting. The Steelers are 2-6-0 in O/U betting but when Big Ben lights up he can tot up the points in a hurry. The hype and enthusiasm surrounding this matchup, the young vs. the olds and pure gut instinct all combine to prompt fading the UNDER and shading the OVER here.
