Chicago Bears vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Point Spread Value

Overall, the Bears are 2-6-0 ATS with a -6.0 losing margin and a -2.8 differential versus the spread. Not exactly a ringing endorsement for the upset NFL pick that follows. However, Jameis Winston’s status is up in the air after suffering a knee injury in week 9. It remains to be seen whether he starts against the Bears in week 10. Assuming he doesn’t, chances are the Bucs will be in a spot of trouble. Consider the Bucs are going nowhere fast even with Winston in the line-up. They are coming off a second straight loss and are 3-5-0 ATS with a -6.5 losing margin and -3.9 differential versus the spread.

The Survivor

Jay Cutler and the Bears served up a shocker in MNF two weeks ago, thwarting the highly-fancied Minnesota Vikings in a 20-10 victory at Soldier Field. Was it a fluke? A Halloween aberration? Who knows, but the Bears aren’t a great team and it wouldn’t be surprising at all if they reverted back to mediocrity against Tampa Bay with or without Jameis Winston. It’s hard to trust a team that constantly disappoints and isn’t headed anywhere but to the sofa in the postseason. On the notion Winston won’t be playing or, even, less than 100%, we’re shading the Chicago Bears on our week 10 NFL picks. But feeling so little joy doing it.

Game Total

Neither team can be trusted on the offensive or defensive side of the ball. From week to week it’s a different ball game. Bucs are 5-3-0 in O/U betting, but the last three games have cracked the OVER thanks to a porous defense that is conceding 30 points on average. The Bears are 3-5-0 in O/U betting, but they’ve played with both Cutler and Hoyer under centre over the course of the first 9 weeks of the season. Will the real Bears stand up?
