Swinger has perused the Week 14 NFL odds being offered and is ready to kick it into high gear.  Let's see what our resident handicapper has to offer and see if he can turn his NFL picks into cold hard cash.

Swinger's 2014 NFL Record (17-20, -23.95 units)
We got our lone winner of three NFL picks last week when the Steelers and Saints did what we knew they would and scored plenty of points to soar over the posted NFL odds total of 53.  That was good for three units but then came the backdoor cover by the Chargers who, with less than a minute remaining in the game, took advantage of the Ravens prevent defense which never fails to prevent the team trying to hold the lead from allowing a touchdown.  Finally, we got edged by the thinnest of margins when we espoused a pick on Under the 43 ½ in the Panthers/Vikings contest only to see these two teams combine for - wait for it - 44 freakin' points!

I'm bloodied but unbowed boys. Let's get this.

Steelers (8-4 O/U) vs. Bengals (4-8 O/U)
The Steelers have gone over the posted total in five of their last six games while the Bengals have gone under in their last four.  Something has to give.  Here's the bottom line -  the Steelers have a juggernaut of an offense recently while the Bengals defense has been playing well particularly in their last two games but against far less prolific offenses in Houston and Tampa Bay.

The last time these teams met was almost a year ago in Pittsburgh when they combined for 50 points.  Don't be surprised to see even more crooked numbers in this one.

NFL Pick:  Over 47 for 2 units at 5Dimes

Texans (6-6 SU, 7-5 ATS) vs. Jaguars (2-10 SU, 3-8-1 ATS)
The Jags scored a gritty win against the woeful Giants last week and now play host to a much more talented Houston Texans squad on Sunday.  I think you know where I'm going with this play, dontcha?  Oh and by the way, the Texans are 5-2 ATS over their last seven road contests.

Houston has a nice defense while the Jags have a rather loathsome offense (31st in points scored).  I realize the Jags are playing better and we all love a bounce-back underdog but when it comes to putting our money where our mouths are, let's not wear our hearts on our sleeves.

NFL Pick:  Texans -5 for 3 units at Pinnacle

Chiefs (7-5 SU, 8-4 ATS) vs. Cardinals (9-3 SU, 8-4 ATS) (MAX PLAY)
I've been amazed that the Cardinals' success has lasted this long but over the past two games we have seen their offense exposed without the services of veteran Carson Palmer.  The Redbirds have averaged only 11.7 PPG over their past three games and scoring won't get any easier against the fearsome Kansas City defense they will face on Sunday.

Both teams have lost their last two straight up and against the spread in NFL odds but only one is poised to return to form.  That team is the Kansas City Chiefs who possess the better quarterback in Alex Smith and whose 25th ranked road run defense shouldn't be tested as the Cardinals have the 32nd and dead last rushing attack at home.

There are two very good defenses here but one offense that is decidedly better. Let's include the Chiefs as one of our Week 14 NFL picks.

NFL Picks:  Kansas City Chiefs +1 for 5 units at BookMaker

49'ers (7-5 SU, 6-6 ATS) vs. Raiders (1-11 SU, 6-6 ATS)
I'm going to indulge the square in me and go for the gusto.  Yes, the Niners are my square road play and I don't mind laying the liumber because there's an offense on this team desperately waiting to bust out.  The Niners will be the truck while the Raiders will play the role of road kill.

Don't overthink this. I know the 49'ers have been disappointing but Oakland is flat out awful while the Niners are merely underachievers.

NFL Pick: 49'ers -8  (-130 buying one full point) for 4 units at The Greek

The Woodman’s Corner (5-8 ATS, - 3.7 units)
The Woodman's penchant for pups has plagued this prolific prognosticator but he proclaims poppycock!  Yes, he too is bloodied but unbowed and is giving his legion of mutinous minions another double digit doggy.  His Week 14 NFL pick reveals the Buffalo Bills +10 at Pinnacle.
