Swinger’s struggles continued last Sunday as he posted a 1-2 mark for the second consecutive week in his NFL picks. But fear not loyal disciples, for the season’s homestretch is heating upon us.

Swinger's 2014 NFL Record (16-18, -18.15 units)
I haven’t made one tackle or been the target of one lousy hit this football season but I have to be honest – I feel like I have been run over by a truck. My wheels are stuck in the mud and to call this season a grind would be doing a disservice to grinds everywhere. Last week in our NFL picks we cashed with a three-unit play on Under 50 ½ in the Jags/Colts affair that was never in doubt. However, we flamed with the Lions for a unit and then watched the Niners struggle against a piss poor Redskins team that cost me four units. We dropped 2.5 units on the day and it’s now or never time to get well as we peruse the NFL odds and try to make this bitch happen.

Chargers (7-4 SU, 5-6 ATS) vs. Ravens (7-4 SU, 7-4 ATS)
The Ravens should scare every team in the NFL right now. They are playing hard, rugged and cohesive football at the right time of the year and notched a W in the win column Monday night as they flew into the Big Easy as three-point pups in NFL odds and soared out with a 34-27 straight up win and cover over the Saints. Baltimore is 4-1 straight up and ATS at home this season.

The Bolts on the other hand, although in the midst of modest two-game win streak, have failed to cash in NFL odds over the last six consecutive occasions. I’m almost leery of that stat because the oddsmakers have a tendency to adjust and this could be one of those instances. Nevertheless, their performance on the road recently has been fraught with ATS casualties and I am tending to believe that playing at the not-so-friendly confines of M & T Bank Stadium will not be an easy task for the underdog Chargers.

Betting Trends:

Home team is 7-3 ATS in their last 10 meetings.
Chargers are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 meetings.
Chargers are 1-7 ATS in their last 8 games in November.
Ravens are 11-3 ATS vs. a team with a winning record.

Total – Saints (8-3 O/U) vs. Steelers (7-4 O/U)
When you think of the Pittsburgh Steelers you probably think of defense. But not this year as they rank 19th in scoring allowed and have surrendered an average of almost 25 PPG over their last six contests which includes limiting the hapless Jets to 13 points three weeks ago. The Steelers are coming off a bye week and should be locked on.

The Saints’ defense is getting worse and has allowed an average of over 29 PPG over their last three games. The weather in Pittsburgh will be cold but clear and these two veteran quarterbacks should be chukin’ early and often. And yes, Over is 4-1 in NFL odds over New Orleans’ last five road games.

Total – Panthers (6-5 O/U) vs. Vikings (3-8 O/U)
Cam Newton has just looked lousy this season and as a result the Panthers will play out the string looking forward to luxuriating at a tropical destination sometime in early January. This team can’t run, can’t pass and it does very little to stop either defensively. Fortunately they are playing a team in the Vikings whose best offensive attack is a mediocre run game ranked 13th in the league.

This will be a grindy game with each team trying to kick start their rushing attack on a frozen grid iron where airing the ball out will be tough to do therefore keeping it on the ground will be the safe call in what should be a tight game. No side here for me boys and girls. I’m going low, low, low here and you should too. Oh and by the way, the Under is 4-1 in NFL odds over their last five meetings.

The Woodman’s Corner (5-7 ATS, - 2.6 units)
Has the Woodman ever seen a favorite he fancied? I mean I’m not big on NASCAR but every once in a while I’ll tune in to see what all the noise is about. But Woodman is not as enlightened as I as he goes back to the well amidst a cacophony of canines replete with howling doggies and panting puppies. From this litter he spies the Oakland Raiders +7 in NFL odds as a surefire underdog ATS cover in his Week 13 NFL picks.
