Swinger continues to grind but last week took a turn for the worse as our resident NFL handicapper went 1-2 but is looking to rebound with a sweep in his NFL picks for Week 12.

Swinger's 2014 NFL Record (15-16, -15.65 units)
Totals had been panning out big time in our NFL picks but last week the bane of my existence this season, the Carolina Panthers, did me in again as I boldly predicted their date with the Atlanta Falcons would soar over the 46 total in NFL odds. Of course Atlanta, who had been allowing everyone to put up points against them, might as well have been the Steel Curtain as the Panthers managed just 17 points and caused this maximum play to flame hard. We also gassed with the Chargers as we laid 9 ½ (-120) for 4 units and they rewarded our confidence with a paltry 13-6 victory. Our lone winner proved to be the Bears -3 over the Vikings 21-13 for 2 measly units. It’s time to get busy picking winners because the season is only getting shorter.

Total – Jaguars (6-4 O/U) vs. Colts (8-2 O/U)
The Jags will be looking to run, run and run some more after watching the Patriots steamroll the Colts last week. Of course they won’t be as effective but certainly trading aerial strikes with Andrew Luck will be a recipe for disaster. Denard Robinson will carry the load and chew up the clock as long as he can before the Colts ultimately move in front and secure the victory.

On the flipside, the Colts will be looking to atone for their sins of Week 11 when they were throttled at home by the suddenly famous Jonas Gray and an absolutely explosive New England offensive line. Ahmad Bradshaw is out of action after breaking his fibula therefore Trent Richardson will take over. Six of one, half a dozen of the other as far as I’m concerned. Colts will win but may get disinterested so I’m not going to bite on either side but the total looks ripe for the pluckin’. Under is 6-1 ATS in NFL odds over the last seven meetings.

Lions (7-3 SU, 5-5 ATS) vs. Patriots (8-2 SU, 6-4 ATS)
Here's the deal kids. The Patriots' Jonas "Who Is This Guy" Gray looked like Jim Brown last week against the anemic rushing defense of the Indianapolis Colts. But that won't be the case against the best of the best this week when the Pats line up against the Lions. Therefore, Tom Brady will be looking to sling the ball early and often but that four man front of the Lions is no joke and he will get an enormous amount of pressure.

I believe the Pats will be looking ahead to what could be a Super Bowl preview when they take to the highway and touch down on the frozen tundra of Lambeau Field in Green Bay. This one looks like a dog fight and I will side against my hometown team and grab Detroit plus the points in NFL odds.

NFL Pick: Patriots +7 ½ (-120)

Redskins (3-7 SU, 3-7 ATS) vs. 49'ers (6-4 SU, 6-4 ATS)
The 49'ers are 14-9 ATS in NFL odds as a home favorite of 3 ½ points or more under Jim Harbaugh and they will be 15-9 ATS after they get done with the hot mess that is the Washington Redskins. 'Frisco has won and covered both of their last two games while Washington has done just the opposite. This is a square's delight because we are laying a lot of points but sometimes the public is right on the money and this is one of those occasions.

NFL Pick: 49'ers -9 for 4 units at BetOnline

The Woodman’s Corner (5-6 ATS, - 1.5 units)
The Woodman flamed last week as he backed the Vikings, against his lord and master’s wishes who advised a play on the opposite side the Bears, and it cost him. The man cannot see his way clear to laying points and the betting trend continues as he is looking for the upstart Cardinals +6 ½ to cover the number against the Seahawks.

NFL Pick: Cardinals +6.5 at BetOnline
