The Buffalo Bills and New York Jets know each other very well. Both teams will need to keep their tempers in check, so will be some scene on Thursday Night Football. Check inside for free NFL picks.

The Bills scored a 33-17 win over the Miami Dolphins. Buffalo might have benefited from the fact that Miami’s two really lopsided wins after firing Joe Philbin were against Tennessee and Houston, two awful teams. Miami might be a mirage. Nevertheless, Buffalo handled Miami easily, and that bodes well for the Bills’ second half of the season.

The Jets allowed Jacksonville to hang around late before finally putting away the Jaguars at home. It wasn’t pretty, but the Jets at least managed to do enough to win. This is something the franchise hasn’t always managed to do. Quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick will go up against his former team in this game. It’s going to be such a blood feud on Thursday.

Line Moves
The NFL odds started with the Jets as three-point favorites, and they are now 2.5-point favorites. The Jets were not very convincing in their win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. Rex Ryan, Buffalo’s coach, has engaged in some serious gamesmanship by naming IK Enemkpali a team captain for this game. Enemkpali, of course, is the former New York Jet who punched backup quarterback Geno Smith (when he was the starter). This enabled Ryan Fitzpatrick to take over the job and lead the Jets to a winning record midway through the season. Both teams are very much aware of the background here, and with this being Rex Ryan’s return to New Jersey for the first regular season game since that incident and his departure from the Jets, there’s going to be a very intense atmosphere. The Jets were embarrassed by that episode, and although they will want to win, Ryan might be inside their heads. You might see this line go down to two points by kickoff time.

Notable Injuries
The Bills have running back Cierre Wood listed on injured reserve. So is safety Aaron Williams. So is tight end MarQueis Gray. So is wide receiver Marquise Goodwin. So is wide receiver Percy Harvin. Defensive tackle Kyle Williams is out indefinitely with a knee injury. Starting running back LeSean McCoy is probable with a shoulder injury. Wide receiver Sammy Watkins is probable with a shoulder injury. Tackle Cyrus Kouandijo is questionable for this game with a knee injury.

For the Jets, guard Willie Colon is questionable with a knee injury. Safety Calvin Pryor is questionable with an ankle injury. Running back Bilal Powell is questionable with a concussion. Cornerback Dee Millner is questionable with a wrist injury. Kicker Nick Folk is out with a quadriceps injury. Center Nick Mangold is questionable with a neck injury. Safety Antonio Allen is on injured reserve. So is tight end Zach Sudfeld, So is tight end Jace Amaro. So is safety Jaiquawn Jarrett. Wide receiver Quincy Enunwa has been suspended for four weeks, this game being the last one in the four-game stretch.

Handicapping The Game
The fact that the Bills’ offense looked really good against a divisional opponent last weekend should probably give them good momentum heading into Jersey. They will beat the Jets in what should be an ugly and close game. Take the Bills with your NFL picks.
