After back-to-back losses to Toronto on the road and Edmonton at home both straight-up and against the spread to start the season, Hamilton finally got on track with a 25-20 victory over Winnipeg last Saturday. It failed to cover as a 5.5-point home favorite so it is now 0-3 ATS on the year. Dating back to early October of the 2012 season, the Tiger-Cats are 2-6 both SU and ATS in their last eight games. The total has stayed UNDER in three of their last five games.
Hamilton has done a fairly decent job of putting points on the board this season with an average of 26.3 points a game, but its defense is ranked second-to-last in points allowed (89). The main bright spot for this team has been the play of quarterback Henry Burris. He leads the league in total passing yards with 957 and he is completing a solid 65.7 percent of his throws. He is tied for second in passing touchdowns with six and has an overall quarterback rating of 106.0.
After limping its way to a disappointing 0-5 SU record down the stretch last season in which it went 0-4-1 ATS, Saskatchewan has served notice that it is the team to beat in the West right now with a 3-0 start both SU and ATS. The total has gone OVER in all three games behind an offense that leads the league in scoring with an average of 38 points a game. The average margin of victory in these three games has been 15.7 points. The defense is ranked second in the league in points allowed; giving-up an average of 23.3 points a game.
Much of this early success can be attributed to the play of quarterback Darian Durant, who leads the CFL in touchdown passes with eight while not throwing a single interception so far. Overall, he has completed 72 percent of his throws for 674 yards. The Roughriders have also gotten a huge chunk of yardage on the ground from Kory Sheets. He leads the league in rushing with 442 yards on 69 carries.

Hamilton vs. Saskatchewan Betting Lines and Trends
TopBet’s opening CFL line for this inter-division matchup has the Roughriders listed as 6.5-point home betting odds favorites with the total line set at 57.
The Tiger-Cats are 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games against a team with a winning record but 0-4 ATS in their last four games following a SU win. The total has gone OVER in their last four road games.
The Roughriders are 4-1 ATS in their last five games following a SU win but 7-22 in their last 29 games against a team with a losing record. The total has gone OVER in five of their last six home games
Hamilton is 6-19-1 ATS in its last 26 games against the Roughriders overall and 2-10-1 ATS in its last 13 games played in Saskatchewan. The total has gone OVER in 20 of the last 28 games between the two.
It is hard to go against both past trends and current form in this matchup, which combined, provide a huge edge for Saskatchewan. The Roughriders’ high-scoring offense should be no match for a very porous Tiger-Cat’s defense which should result in another 30-point plus day for the home team. This in-turn will set the stage for Saskatchewan to run its record to 4-0 both SU and ATS with another lopsided win.
