Saskatchewan Overview

Saskatchewan has established itself as the team to beat in the CFL this season with a first-half record of 8-1 straight-up that has the team sitting alone atop the West Division. The Roughriders earned their eighth victory of the season by pummeling the Blue Bombers 48-25 in the first half of this home-and-home series this past Sunday. They covered against the spread as 14.5-point home favorites to run their record ATS to 6-3. The total went ‘Over’ the 53-point line and it has now gone ‘Over’ in six of their first nine games.

Not only is Saskatchewan the highest scoring team in the CFL with an average of 34.6 points a game, it also boasts the stingiest defense as well. The Roughriders are allowing an average of 22.4 points a game, which is also ranked first in the league. Darian Durant has the third-most passing yards in the CFL with 2,198 and he has completed 67.8 percent of his throws. Durant leads the league in passing touchdowns with 21 and he has only been picked-off once. Last week against the Bombers he went 24-for-35 for 315 yards and four touchdowns.

Winnipeg Overview

Sunday’s loss stretched Winnipeg’s current winless streak to seven games and they are currently buried in the East Division standings with a record of 1-8 SU. They have not been much better ATS with an overall record of 3-6 and have yet to cover in a home game with a record of 0-4 ATS. The total has gone ‘Over’ in all four of those games.

What can go wrong has gone wrong for Winnipeg this season. It has tried three different players at quarterback with Justin Goltz taking all the snaps in the last game. He put the ball up 29 times last week and completed 18 passes for 182 yards. He ended the day with zero touchdown throws and he was intercepted twice. By default he should be the starter again in Sunday’s game, but I would not expect anything to radically change as far as his performance.

Saskatchewan vs. Winnipeg Free CFL Pick

There is nothing about this matchup that suggests that this Sunday’s outcome will be any different from last Sunday. The margin of victory may not be as wide with Winnipeg playing this game at home, but it will be more than enough to make the free CFL pick in this contest clearly with Saskatchewan.
