The Saskatchewan Roughriders will be looking to snap a three-game skid this Sunday afternoon when they square-off against the Montreal Alouettes.

This inter-division clash at Percival Molson Stadium is set to kickoff at 1 p.m. ET and will be broadcast in Canada on TSN. Can we make some money in this week's game with our sports picks?

Saskatchewan Overview

The Roughriders ran over the competition with eight straight-up wins in their first nine games, but last Sunday’s 24-22 loss to British Columbia as six-point home favorites was their third in a row. They are now 8-4 SU on the year and one game in back of Calgary in the West Division standings. Saskatchewan has failed to cover in six of its last seven games to fall to 6-6 against the spread on the year. The total has gone ‘Over’ in three of its last five games.

It is hard to pinpoint exactly what has gone wrong over the past three weeks other than the Roughriders’ inability to hold onto leads or play from behind. They gave up 19 points to Toronto in the fourth quarter in a Week 12 loss and last week against BC their own fourth quarter rally came up two points short. Saskatchewan is still one of the most talented teams in the CFL on offense with a league-high 31.3 points a game and their defense still leads the league in points allowed (282). It will be even better this week if running back Kory Sheets can return to the lineup.

Montreal Overview

It has been a rough go of it for last season’s East Division champs. Last Saturday’s 28-26 loss to Hamilton as eight-point road underdogs was the Alouettes third straight defeat. They are now just 4-8 SU (6-6 ATS) on the year and clinging to the final spot for this season’s Grey Cup Playoffs. Montreal has remained competitive with a 4-2 record ATS in its last six games and the total has gone ‘Over’ in three of its last five games.

When long-time CFL vet Anthony Calvillo went down with a concussion earlier this season the Alouettes were struggling to move the ball on offense. Not much has changed with a host of other quarterbacks at the helm. Josh Neiswander was the latest signal caller to get a chance to move the offense and he did respond against the Tiger-Cats by completing 26-of-36 attempts for 294 yards and two touchdowns. The problem in this game was a Montreal defense that could not stop Hamilton when it needed to the most.

Saskatchewan vs. Montreal Betting Lines and Trends

Saskatchewan has been opened as a three-point road favorite on Week 14's opening CFL odds with the total set at 53.5.

The Roughriders are 4-9-1 ATS in their last 14 road games and 10-25 ATS in their last 35 games against a team with a losing record. The total has gone ‘Over’ in five of their last seven games on the road.

The Alouettes are 2-7 ATS in their last nine games at home but 4-1 ATS in their last five games following a SU loss. The total has stayed ‘Under’ in seven of their last 11 home games.

Head-to-head in this series, Saskatchewan is 5-1 ATS in the last five meetings in Montreal, but 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings overall. The total has stayed ‘Under’ in 14 of the last 17 games played in Montreal.

Saskatchewan vs. Montreal Free CFL Pick

Montreal definitely looked better against last week against Hamilton after getting blown out by BC the week before, but I still do not think it has what it takes to win this game. The Roughriders are well aware of their situation and poised for a much improved effort against a team they are clearly better then on both sides of the ball. My free CFL pick in this matchup is to lay the three points and take Saskatchewan with a big win on the road.
