The Saskatchewan Roughriders will look to remain the only unbeaten team in the CFL this season when they square-off against the Toronto Argonauts at the Rogers Centre this Thursday night.

Kick-off is set for 4:30 p.m. (PT) and the game will be broadcast in Canada on TSN.

Saskatchewan Overview

The Roughriders only managed to win eight games last season, but they have jumped-out to a 2-0 start both straight-up and against the spread to take the early lead in the West Division. After hammering Edmonton 39-18 on opening day as a 2.5-point betting odds favorite on the road, Saskatchewan beat up on Calgary 36-21 as a two-point home favorite in Week 2. The total went OVER in both of those games and it has now gone OVER in six of its last seven games.

The big turnaround from last season has actually been on both sides of the ball. The 75 points scored in the Roughriders first two games is the most in the CFL and the combined 39 points their defense has given-up is the least. Darian Durant has thrown for 429 yards and five touchdowns, but the workhorse in this offense has been running back Kory Sheets, who leads the CFL in rushing with 264 yards on 43 carries.

Toronto Overview

The defending 2012 Grey Cup Champions started the season with a 39-34 win over Hamilton as a 3.5-point home favorite, but the Argonauts six-game winning streak that dated back to October of last year came crashing to an end this past Thursday with a 24-16 loss to British Columbia as seven-point road underdogs. Toronto is now 6-1 ATS in its last seven games with the total going OVER in five of those contests.

Toronto’s offense is ranked first in the East Division in scoring with an average of 27.5 points a game and quarterback Ricky Ray is off to another solid start. He is currently second in the league in total passing yards with 583 and he has completed 71.2 percent of his throws. Chad Owens has been his favorite target so far. These two have hooked-up for 20 catches for 206 yards which is the most in the CFL.

TopBet’s opening CFL line for this matchup has Toronto listed as a one-point home favorite with the total line set at 53.5

The Roughriders are 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games following a SU win, but they are just 2-6-1 ATS in their last nine games on the road. The total has stayed UNDER in 20 of their last 28 games following a SU win.

The Argonauts are 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games following a SU loss and 4-0 ATS in their last four home games. The total has gone OVER in their last five games played at home.

Head-to-head in this matchup, the road team has won six of the last nine meetings both SU and ATS. The total has stayed UNDER in five of the last six games between the two.

Saskatchewan vs. Toronto Free CFL Pick

There is no doubt that Saskatchewan comes into this inter-division contest with the hot hand, but Toronto is a different team when it is playing at home. Given just how tight the spread is for this game, the free CFL pick in this one is to lay the points and take the Argonauts to cover at home.
