Hamilton Overview

Hamilton is just 2-4 straight-up and 1-5 against the spread in its first six games, but it is actually in second place in the East behind Toronto. The Tiger-Cats are coming off a bye week after knocking off Edmonton 30-29 on August 2nd as 3.5-point road underdogs. The total went ‘Over’ the 50.5-point line in that contest after staying ‘Under’ in its previous four games.

Consistent scoring has been an issue for this team this season with an average of just 21.5 points a game and the fact that Hamilton’s defense is ranked dead-last in the league in points allowed (187) has certainly not helped its cause. The one bright spot has been the play of Henry Burris at quarterback with a league-high 1,803 passing yards and 10 touchdowns, but this has obviously not translated to wins.

Winnipeg Overview

The Blue Bombers’ current losing streak reached four games with last Monday’s 27-20 loss to British Columbia as 11-point road underdogs. They did cover the spread and are now 3-3 ATS, but they have yet to cover in any of their first three home games. The total has gone ‘Over’ in all three of those games.

This is another team that has struggled as times to put points on the board this season with an average of 22.5 points a game. The defense has been somewhat better, but it is allowing an average of 28.8 points a game which has obviously led to many more SU wins than losses. Justin Goltz has been handed the keys to the car as the designated starting quarterback for an ineffective Buck Pierce. Goltz have competed just 57.7 percent of his attempts and has as many interceptions as touchdown throws with two.

Hamilton vs. Winnipeg Betting Lines and Trends

Opening CFL betting lines have Hamilton listed as a three-point road favorite and the total has been set at 52.5

The Tiger-Cats are 5-14 SU in their last 19 games and 1-6 ATS in their last seven outings. The total has gone ‘Over’ in five of their last six road games.

The Blue Bombers have won just one of their last six home games SU and they are 1-5 ATS in those games as well. The total has gone ‘Over’ in four of their last five home games.

Head-to-head in this matchup, Hamilton has won just two of the last eight meetings SU, but it did pull-out a 25-20 victory in Week 3 of this season as a six-point home favorite. The total stayed ‘Under’ the 54.5-point line in that game and it has now stayed ‘Under’ in five of the last six meetings between the two.

Hamilton vs. Winnipeg Free CFL Pick

Neither team has showed any consistency this season on either side of the ball, making this matchup all the tougher to successfully predict the outcome as far as sides. The best bet in this one is on the total line given the strong trend for low-scoring contests between these two teams. Look for that trend to continue on Friday night with the free CFL pick being on the ‘Under’ for this game.
