In a matchup that could very well decide the East Division title, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats will try and close the gap with the Toronto Argonauts this Friday night.

This heated rivalry is set to get underway at 7 p.m. ET at the Rogers Centre, and the game will be broadcast in Canada on TSN. Who should we favor with our sports picks in this Week 15 matchup?

Hamilton Overview

Hamilton is in solid shape for a playoff berth this season at 6-7 both straight-up and against the spread, but if it is going to have any shot at remaining in the race for the East Division title it has to win this game. The Tiger-Cats come into this showdown struggling a bit with just two SU victories in their last five games. They got pasted by Calgary 35-11 this past Saturday as one-point home favorites which is another red flag for this contest.

The Tiger-Cats still have the most prolific passing game in the CFL behind quarterback Henry Burris. He leads the league with 3,899 yards and he is third in touchdown passes with 20, but he has also thrown six interceptions in his past two games. These turnovers and a porous defense have Hamilton searching for answers at the wrong time of the year.

Toronto Overview

Toronto might actually prefer playing this game away from home after going 4-0 both SU and ATS in an impressive road trip that included victories over both Saskatchewan and Calgary. Last Saturday the Argonauts ran past Edmonton 34-22 as one-point road favorites to improve to 9-4 SU (8-5 ATS) on the year. They are an even 3-3 SU at home this season and 2-4 ATS with the total going ‘Over’ in four of the six games.

Everyone thought that the defending Grey Cup champs would be in serious trouble when Ricky Ray went down with a shoulder injury. After a shaky start, Zach Collaros has been fairly solid in relief with 1,974 passing yards and 13 touchdown throws. He completed just 53 percent of his 32 attempts against the Eskimos, but Toronto got a huge effort from Chad Kackert and the running game in that win. He gained 155 yards on just 13 carries with two of the runs going for scores

Hamilton vs. Toronto Betting Lines and Trends

Opening CFL betting lines for this East Division showdown has Toronto favored at home by four points with the total line set at 55.

The Tiger-Cats are 6-2 ATS in their last eight games overall and 4-1 ATS in their last five games on the road. The total has gone ‘Over’ in seven of their last nine road games.

The Argonauts are 4-1 both SU and ATS in their last five games and the total has gone ‘Over’ in four of those five games.

Head-to-head in this East Division showdown, Hamilton is 1-4 both SU and ATS in its last five road games against Toronto and 1-5 SU and ATS in the last six meetings overall. The total has gone ‘Over’ in the last five meetings.

Hamilton vs. Toronto Free CFL Pick

Right off the bat I would lean towards the ‘Over’ in this matchup based on recent betting trends along with each team’s ability to put points on the board. When looking for a play on a side, the strong edge in this contest goes to Toronto given its current form and past dominance in this series. A parlay with the ‘Over’ could be a solid play, but the free CFL pick in this contest is the Argonauts minus the points at home.
