Winnipeg Overview

Winnipeg got strapped with a home-and-home series against defending East Division Champion Montreal to start the 2013 regular season and it came away with a 38-33 loss as a 3.5-point home underdog in the opener. The Blue Bombers bounced back last week with a stunning 19-11 victory over the Alouettes as seven-point road underdogs. The total was split in these two games, but it has stayed UNDER in seven of their last 10 outings.

Buck Pierce has suffered through a number of injuries in his CFL career, but when healthy he still has the ability to move the ball down the field with his arm. He has completed just 58.5 percent of his 65 attempts this season, but he already racked-up 515 yards and two touchdowns in two games. The one concern is the four interceptions that also go with his stats.

Hamilton Overview

Hamilton was looking to former NFL quarterback Brian Brohm to possibly lead its offense this season, but he remains on the nine-week IR list with an injured arm. In his place is veteran CFL signal caller Henry Burris, who currently leads the CFL in passing yards with 590 yards and four scoring throws. His favorite target so far has been Andy Fantuz. He has just 10 catches this season but averaging 15.5 yards a catch.

The Tiger-Cats have scored a respectable 54 points in their first two games, but they have been torched on defense with a league-high 69 points. The result is a 0-2 start both straight-up and against the spread in losses to Toronto and Edmonton. The total has been split in the two games this season after going OVER in four of six games down the stretch. They now have just one SU win in their last seven games.

Winnipeg vs. Hamilton Betting Lines and Trends

Opening CFL odds for this game have Hamilton as a 4.5-point favorite at home with the total line set at 54.

The Blue Bombers are 10-2 ATS in their last 12 games played in July, but only 1-5 ATS in their last six WEEK 3 games. The total has stayed UNDER in six of their last eight division games.

The Tiger-Cats are 2-5 ATS in their last seven division games, but 7-1 ATS in their last eight games played in July. The total has gone OVER in eight of their last 11 games against a team from the East.

The home team in this matchup is 7-2 in the last nine meetings and the total has stayed UNDER in the last five meetings in Hamilton. Winnipeg is 6-1 SU in the last games between the two and 5-2 ATS.

Winnipeg vs. Hamilton Free CFL Pick

These teams battled each other for last place in the East last season and they each finished the year with identical 6-10 records. Both of them come into the 2013 season as longshots to win it all this season. However, I really like the Blue Bombers chances to win this game SU (let alone with the 4.5 points) so I would add the Bombers to my sports picks in this game.
