The Winnipeg Blue Bombers will try and snap the Montreal Alouettes’ current two-game winning streak when the two East Division rivals clash on Monday.

Winnipeg Overview

Winnipeg’s current losing streak reached four games with last Saturday’s 38-11 loss to Calgary as a 16-point road underdog. The losses have been piling-up all season long as part of a dismal overall record of 2-12 straight-up. The Blue Bombers have only covered against the spread in four of the 14 games and the total has stayed ‘Under’ in six of their seven games this season on the road.

With a record like that it is no big surprise that Winnipeg is ranked last in the league in both scoring and points allowed. The offense has scored more than 20 points just once in its last four games and it is averaging 19.9 points a game on the year. The Blue Bombers’ defense has allowed 35 points or more in six of its last eight games and is giving-up an average of 32.8 points a game this year.

Montreal Overview

Montreal should once again make the Grey Cup Playoffs this season, but there is still a good possibility that it enters the postseason with a losing record if it does not win three of its final four games. The Alouettes are pointed in the right direction with back-to-back victories over Saskatchewan and Edmonton, but they are still under .500 at 6-8 SU on the year. They have covered ATS in six of their last eight games and the total has gone ‘Over’ in four of their last seven contests.

The inability to consistently put points on the board has haunted Montreal all season long. It has been a revolving door at quarterback so far due to injury and ineffectiveness, but look for Josh Neiswander to once again get the start this Monday after throwing for 251 yards and four touchdowns in last week’s victory over the Eskimos. The Alouettes are another team that has struggled to keep opposing teams out of the end zone this season with a point-against average of 27.5.

Winnipeg vs. Montreal Betting Lines and Trends

Looking at CFL betting lines for Week 16, Montreal has opened as a 12-point home favorite and the total line has been set at 53.5.

The Blue Bombers are 1-4 ATS and 0-5 SU in their last five road games and 1-7 ATS in their last eight games overall. The total has stayed ‘Under’ in seven of their last eight games on the road.

The Alouettes are 6-2 ATS in their last eight games overall but just 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games at home. The total has stayed ‘Under’ in nine of their last 12 home games.

Head-to-head in this division rivalry, Winnipeg is 8-3 ATS in the last 11 meetings overall and 4-1 ATS in its last five road games against Montreal. The total has stayed ‘Under’ in four of those five road games.

Winnipeg vs. Montreal Free CFL Pick

Winnipeg is clearly the worst team in the CFL, but Montreal is a far cry from the playoff caliber team that we have come to know over the past few seasons. Look for the Alouettes to extend their winning streak to three games, but the free CFL pick in this contest is the Blue Bombers plus the 12 points.
