BC Overview

The Lions start the second half of the season with a straight-up record of 6-3 after beating Hamilton 29-26 last Friday night as 6.5-point favorites at home. The total went ‘Over’ the 54.5-point line in that game. They are 4-5 against the spread in those nine games and the total has gone ‘Over’ in three of four road games this season. BC has only covered the spread in one of its last five games.

Travis Lulay put up some huge numbers in the first game of this home-and-home series with 359 yards passing and three touchdown throws. He is now ranked second in the league in total passing yards with 2,198. Lulay also did a great job at spreading the ball around against the Tiger-Cats with six different receivers catching at least four balls. BC’s defense tried to make this game a bit too interesting by giving-up a late touchdown that closed the gap to three, but for the most part, it played solid for much of the night.

Hamilton Overview

Hamilton’s move up the standings in the East Division with three-straight victories hit a bump in the road with last week’s loss. It is now 4-5 SU on the year and in second-place behind Toronto. The Tiger-Cats are 4-5 ATS as well and the total has stayed ‘Under’ in all four previous home games this season. They are averaging 25.4 points a game on offense, but the defense is allowing an average of 27.6 points which is the second-highest total in the CFL.

Look for this game to turn into another aerial circus with Henry Burris at quarterback for Hamilton. He currently leads the league in passing with 2,806 yards with 352 of them coming in last Friday’s win. He hooked-up with Greg Ellingson eight times for 94 yards and a score in that game and completed a pass to eight different players. Ellingson is now ranked third in the CFL in receiving yards with 632.

BC vs. Hamilton Free CFL Pick

BC has the edge in overall talent in this matchup, but it is very hard to beat a team twice in less than 10 days at this level. Hamilton has already proven it can stand toe-to-toe with this team on the road, so the free CFL pick in this contest is the Tiger-Cats SU at home to even the season series at a game apiece.
