Montreal Overview

Montreal started the 2013 CFL regular season as the favorite to win another East Division title, but after 11 games it finds itself three games out of first place with a losing 4-7 record straight-up. The latest setback was a 36-14 loss to British Columbia this past Sunday as a nine-point underdog on the road. The Alouettes are now 5-6 against the spread this season overall and 3-2 ATS on the road. The total stayed ‘Under’ the 51.5-point line against the Lions and it has now stayed ‘Under’ in three of their last five games.

Tanner Marsh has taken over the reins at quarterback for the injured Anthony Calvillo and so far it has been a struggle with completion percentage of 52.8 to go along with a ratio of eight interceptions to three touchdown throws. Montreal’s defense has not helped the cause either by allowing an average of 29.2 points a game which is ranked second to last in the CFL.

Hamilton Overview

The Tiger-Cats are coming off a tough 26-22 loss to Calgary last week as 5.5-point road underdogs, but they remain in the thick of the title race in the East at 5-6 SU on the year. They have gone 4-2 SU in their last six games with a perfect 6-0 record ATS. The total stayed ‘Under’ the 58-point total against the Stampeders after going ‘Over’ in four of their previous five games.

Henry Burris continues to lead the CFL in passing with 3,589 yards and he is ranked second in touchdown throws with 20. Greg Ellingson remains his favorite target with 51 receptions for 800 yards and six scores. Hamilton’s defense has been a bit suspect lately; giving-up an average of 28 points in its last three games. The Tiger-Cats had a 22-16 lead after three quarters against Calgary, but they were outscored 10-0 in the fourth.

Montreal vs. Hamilton Free CFL Pick

The Tiger-Cats have won six of the last nine meetings in this series SU and they have the edge this time around as well against a Montreal team that is still trying to find its form on both sides of the ball. Look for Hamilton to win this game SU as it continues to dominate this series at home, but the free CFL pick is the Alouettes and a very generous eight points.

CFL Pick: Bet the Alouettes plus the points at +8 (or +9 points if you can find it, so shop around!)
