After having a rough early start to the NFL season, the sportsbooks did quite well according to my sources this past week and it was largely predicated on the NFL odds of a single game.

Most sportsbooks were loaded with Arizona Cardinals money on straight bets, money lines, parlay cards and teaser cards. While the spread bets mattered, the parlay and teaser cards were stuffed with Arizona money and with the Cardinals being upset by the Rams, at sportsbooks everywhere, it went from nervous time to flush with cash.

On the topic of teasers, they have really grown in popularity for football bettors because you can structure the odds in a more favorable position. Of course there is still risk, but it is a fun an exciting way to wager.

Football handicappers like myself are not just trying to have a little fun, but be right side of key numbers to build an edge. Last week Houston cost us a win on a four-teamer, but as I have been saying and doing, break these out into two or three-team teasers and your chances of winning increase, as I have actually been correct overall on 13 of 16 choices.

Here are my teaser picks for NFL Week 5 and consider Heritage, who has some of the best NFL odds for teasers.

Buffalo +3.5 Teaser Odds
For NFL picks, I do other articles and videos and one team I have dialed in is the Buffalo Bills. I have betting on or against Rex Ryan's crew all season and I will continue this week looking at them for teaser. The biggest component is Tennessee, while improving is still not a very good football team and off their loss to Cleveland and Indianapolis, they are 1-9 ATS after two or more consecutive losses, falling by an average of 12.9 points.

Buffalo has the pass rush to bother Marcus Mariota and from pure wagering perspective, we crawl over the key number of three, this is a solid choice.

Atlanta -1 Teaser Odds
I admit I thought the Falcons had a chance to go down last week and Houston was the only team I had wrong for sports picks on 4-team teaser (I know, it made it a loser). This week Atlanta is back at home and with just essentially having to win the game, this much improved team does the job.

While Kirk Cousins was fantastic on game-winning drive for Washington, he typically struggles on the road, like he did in his only other prior start with he and his team committing three turnovers against the Giants. Lastly, home teams the past three years at -1 teaser number are 9-0 versus the oddsmakers.

New Orleans +11 Teaser Odds
This is not so much a play on New Orleans as it is against Philadelphia. While neither team has not shown much as noted by their 1-3 records, the thought of the Eagles being able to fly past such a figure seems insurmountable.

Chip Kelly's crew has enormous problems with the offensive line, which is why the offensive is averaging 19.5 points a contest. The Saints offense or defense is not necessarily better, but their passing game is beginning to find its timing and the Eagles ranks 25th in pass defense.

Lastly, with New Orleans at +5 against the spread, we go past seven and 10 as key numbers, adding to our value.

New York Giants -1 Teaser Odds
Impressive victory by New York at Buffalo, as it run defense totally bottled up Buffalo's then top-rated running game in holding them to 55 yards. Now they face a slumping San Francisco squad who is beginning to meet all the preseason expectations of being a terrible football team.

The 49ers passing offense is in tatters which suggests they will have to rush the ball and the No. 1 run defense in the NFL will be in the blue jersey's in this contest. The Niners defense has been getting shredded, listed 30th in the league in yards per play. Also, after losing by 10 or more points, on the last six occasions this happened to San Fran, they lost by 13.5 PPG in next outing.
