Two young, talented teams with high expectations clash in Nashville when the Raiders visit the Titans in what should be an entertaining game with betting value.

The Raiders and the Titans finished in second place in their respective divisions last season, losing their tiebreakers to teams with the same record (the Raiders and the Chiefs went 12-4 in the AFC West while the Titans and the Texans finished 9-7 in the AFC South).

These two teams have met 49 times, with the Raiders winning 29 games, including the last two. Oakland prevailed 17-10 in Nashville in Week 3 last year.

Oakland Raiders

Third-year quarterback Derek Carr was one of the more prolific passers in the league before breaking his leg in Week 16 against the Colts. Connor Cook took over under center and the Raiders were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs against the Texans.

It was a busy offseason for the Raiders, who managed to lure running back Marshawn Lynch out of retirement and with a healthy Derk Carr the time is now to make a deep playoff run.

Carr has a lot of weapons at his disposal, including talented wide receivers Amari Cooper and Michael Crabtree and if their defense has success they can challenge the Patriots in the AFC.

Tennessee Titans

Last year Marcus Mariota suffered a season-ending leg injury on the same day as Derek Carr, sealing Tennessee's fate. The good news is that Mariota, like Carr, is completely recovered from that injury and he's widely considered a top young quarterback and one of the best leaders in the NFL.

The Titans are quietly becoming a sleeper team in the AFC and the additions of wide receivers Eric Decker and Corey Davis will give Mariota more weapons than ever before.

Another year of running backs DeMarco Murray and Derrick Henry doesn't hurt either, as they combined for 1,700 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns last season and their defense is also expected to improve.

Betting Trends

The Over is 6-1 in Oakland's last seven games in September and 7-3 in their last 10 Week 1 games.

The Over is 4-1 in Tennessee's last five games against AFC opponents.

The Over is 7-3 in Oakland's last 10 games and 6-4 in Tennessee's last 10 games.

Betting Prediction

The Titans are favored by 2.5 points on the NFL odds board at BetOnline and the O/U has been set at 50, which is a large total for an NFL season opener, but these two teams are capable of putting up a lot of points and neither defense is particularly impressive. Look for Over 50 to hit.
