Everyone wants to get the best number, but most bettors wait until the last minute to make their NFL picks. Get a jump on your selections and check out the early lines which could mean the difference between a cover and a loss.
The NFL odds opened the Redskins as 3½-point favorites, but that number has already moved to as high as 4½ in a several of the major online sportsbooks. This shift is more than a bit curious when you consider that the Cardinals won a hard-fought defensive battle with the Titans last week as 3-point home dogs while the Redskins were blown out 30-13 in LA by the Chargers. Perhaps the thinking is that the Cardinals are woefully inept offensively and Washington’s power outage in Los Angeles was but an aberration. Regardless, if you like the Redbirds on the highway you can scoop them at +4½ at shops like 5Dimes, BetOnline, and Bovada, but if you’re inclined to lean on the home team laying the lumber then click on over to Bookmaker and JustBet, both offering Washington -4.Packers at Panthers
It might surprise you that the Panthers opened as merely 2-point favorites over the beleaguered Packers after getting a huge win over Minnesota last weekend while Green Bay struggled to beat the woeful Browns. Apparently, the public was surprised as well because that number is long gone and impossible to find as Carolina is now installed as 3-point home chalk pretty much across the board. However, Island Casino and Sportbet are both holding fast at Carolina -2½, but you will pay a -130 premium to get that line at both those establishments if you want to include the Panthers in your NFL picks.Titans at 49ers
Sweet Jimmy G has resurrected the moribund 49ers franchise as well as their fans. Acquired from New England last month, quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo has ignited the Niners to a pair of road wins since taking the reins of the offense and now returns home to face a Titans squad that managed only a touchdown in the desert last week in their 12-7 loss to Arizona. Not so coincidentally, the line has moved from San Francisco as a pick’em to as high as 2½-point favorites at Heritage and Wagerweb. Virtually every other sportsbook is dealing the 49ers -2, but 5Dimes is going rogue and allowing bettors to wager San Francisco -1 (-120).Monday: Falcons at Bucs
The free-falling Bucs have not only plummeted in the standings after their three-game skid but have cost their backers money as they continue to fail at the betting windows. Tampa Bay is 0-6 ATS as an underdog this season and 3-9-1 ATS overall. The public, the sharps, or a combination of both understand this, which is why the Bucs have gone from 4-point home dogs to getting 6 as of this writing. The books stand united in Falcons-6, but this line could spike even higher as the week progresses. Click on over to SBR odds to see the openers and the current lines all throughout the week.
