Eagles vs. Jets Week 13 Picks: Philly Laying a Touchdown on the Road

The Philadelphia Eagles visit the New York Jets on Sunday of Week 13 while looking to bounce back. We break it down with our top Eagles-Jets picks.

After their two-game winning streak was halted last week in the Meadowlands with a loss to the New York Giants, the Eagles will step back on the same field Sunday looking for a different result. The Jets are standing in their way, as they come off a win over the Houston Texans. QB Zach Wilson secured his second NFL win in his first game back from injury.

The Jets now stand at a respectable 3-8, and with some winnable matchups on the horizon could very well wind up challenging for a record just shy of .500 for the season. They have actually managed to go 3-4 in non-division games, though against the spread for the season they’re just 3-8, and have covered only in the games they won outright. The Over is also 6-2 across their last eight games.

Philadelphia was beginning to come together, having won three out of four games, before a brutal 13-7 loss to the Giants last week, in a game it entered as a four-point favorite. The Eagles are 6-6 against the spread, but like the Jets, all but one of those covers was in a victory. Philly is 4-3 ATS on the road and 2-1 ATS as the favorite.

Here are my picks and predictions for the NFL Week 13 matchup between the Eagles and Jets (odds via DraftKings Sportsbook; pick confidence based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

Eagles vs. Jets Odds Analysis

The Eagles opened as 6.5-point favorites, and the total was initially set at 45. The public has taken a side here, with the Eagles being bet to -7 almost entirely across the board.

You can find different totals depending on where you look — some books are going as low as 44.5 while the consensus seems to be higher at the open of 45. There are even some books hanging 45.5.

Jets +7 (-115)

It’s beating a dead horse at this point, but the Jets have really vaulted up the ranks into a different team over the last four weeks. This passing offense is now 11th with 245.2 yards per game, and it is all thanks to the playcalling of offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur.

The first-year OC was able to work around a shaky outing from Wilson in Houston, and now with the rust knocked off and he nerves settled back down, this offense — which has been incredibly easy to manage for just about any quarterback— should get back to thriving.

Philadelphia has really struggled against the pass, in particular, ranking 23rd by defensive DVOA through the air, and that is going to really sting against a pass-happy Jets team that has begun throwing the football even more in the wake of an injury to starting RB Michael Carter.

New York also looked very good against Houston on defense, sacking Tyrod Taylor five times. Philly ranks 15th in sack rate against, while the Eagles have the third-worst sack rate on defense. The lines are going to be an issue.

Over 44.5 (-110)

While I think the Jets may be in a good spot here on defense, it’s hard to argue against the fact that this unit is really bad. They sit 32nd in total defensive DVOA, and it’s not as if the Texans are a great barometer of where you are defensively.

On the other side, the Jets will be glad to see a poor passing defense, and the extremely low sack rate of the Eagles makes you feel good about Wilson’s chances of succeeding.
