Find out how we'll choose to place our NFL picks knowing that the Panthers will try to avoid a 4th straight loss when they take on the high-flying Eagles on Monday Night Football in Week 10.
Opening NFL odds see the Eagles favored by six points for MNF, though there are a few books which have a line of 5.5 up for the taking. So far this season, Philadelphia is 6-2 SU and 5-3 ATS, with Carolina at 3-5-1 SU and 5-4 ATS.
If you want to make a play on the game's total, the number has opened up at 48 points, though we wouldn't be surprised to see that number grow throughout the week. The Panthers have been struggling lately offensively, but you never know when Cam Newton's going to go off, and the Eagles love to get involved in shootouts.
The Eagles have gotten off to a great start this season. They've won six of their first eight games, and will enter Week 10 fresh off a nice road win over Houston.
In the 31-21 win over the Texans, Nick Foles went out early due to an injury, so Mark Sanchez had to come in and get the job done. He did a great job filling in, throwing for 202 yards and two touchdowns, though he did throw two picks. Still, Sanchez did what he needed to do, linking up with Jeremy Maclin and company to shred Houston's defense.
Maclin ended up with 156 receiving yards and two TDs, while Jordan Matthews also found the end zone. RB LeSean McCoy had 23 rushes for 117 yards and added a couple catches for six yards.
In all, Philadelphia went for 483 total yards of offense, which was almost 200 more than what Houston was able to muster up. It was yet another example of the Eagles up-tempo offense working wonders. They'll look to do something similar to Carolina's suspect defense here in Week 10.
After a nice 2-0 start, the Panthers have fallen off a cliff practically. They've failed to record a single win since and can now be found with a 3-5-1 overall record.
In Week 9, Carolina was in action on Thursday night against the Saints and ended up losing 28-10 at home to their division rivals.
The Panthers couldn't get much of anything going, as they finished with only 231 yards of total offense. Meanwhile, Drew Brees and company were able to record 375 total yards. Brees finished a little short of 300 passing yards, while Mark Ingram ran for 100 yards and two touchdowns in the win. For Carolina, Cam Newton only had 151 passing yards while getting picked off once, though he did run for a touchdown.
Ahead of Week 10, Carolina hasn't been able to do much of anything right. Offensively they're #26 in passing yards per game and #20 in rushing yards per game, while on defense they're #26 at stopping the run and #17 at defending the pass. It's been a mess all around.
While the opening odds for this week 10 match is still at 5.5, we're going to take advantage. We may not see that number last much longer, as we imagine a lot of people will be enticed by getting to back the Eagles at home.
Right now, it's tough to go against Philadelphia with the way that offense is clicking, even with Sanchez under center. Chip Kelly went as far to say that his offense didn't skip a beat, so we're not too worried about Sanchez and how he'll fare. He's got plenty of weapons surrounding him to more than make up for a couple mistakes here and there.
We also haven't been impressed at all with Carolina, especially defensively. The Panthers have been very poor against the run and haven't been much better at defending the pass, so it could get ugly on MNF. Back the Eagles with your NFL picks.
