The Eagles, after picking up their first loss of the season, will try for their first bounce-back performance of the season when they play host to the Rams. What kind of value is there to be had in the NFL betting odds for this Week 5 matchup?

The Eagles, in hopes of getting back on track, will enter as the obvious NFL odds on favorites to win at home. They're favored by a touchdown at a lot of the books, which shouldn't come as a surprise.

We know Philadelphia can put up points in a hurry, and even the Rams have looked decent in that reguard under Austin Davis. Still, the total has been dropping throughout the week, starting at 49 and going down to 47.5 at some spots.

St. Louis Rams in 2014-15 Regular Season1-2 SU, 1-2 ATS, -9.7 margin of victory

Philadelphia Eagles in 2014-15 Regular Season3-1 SU, 2-2 ATS, +4.5 margin of victory

The Eagles were unable to continue their perfect start to the season last week, losing by five in San Francisco to a motivated 49ers team.

It was a day to forget for Nick Foles, who completed only 21-of-43 passes for 195 yards, while throwing two interceptions and zero touchdowns. It's not often you see a guy like Foles, surrounded by a terrifying offense like this, get held without an offensive touchdown. The run game was stuffed too, as LeSean McCoy only had 10 rushes for 17 yards, with Darren Sproles getting only one carry for four yards. Jeremy Maclin led all Eagles receivers in yardage, but only had 57 yards overall, a far cry from what we've seen out of him this season.

On the other side, the 49ers were able to make enough playing against a pretty soft Philadelphia defense, thus handing the Eagles their first loss of the 2014/15 campaign. Now Chip Kelly's crew returns home, where they'll be at home to a Rams team that's coming off a bye week.

St. Louis was thumped Week 1, but has since responded to stay competitive in Weeks 2 and 3. They beat the Buccaneers by two on the road, and then fell in heartbreaking fashion at home to the Cowboys in a three-point loss. The Rams put up a great fight at home, but just couldn't make enough plays down the stretch to get the win.

The big question surrounding St. Louis is the quarterback situation, but things have been cleared up more recently, as Austin Davis has been named the starter for this weekend's game in the City of Brotherly Love. Davis has looked pretty darn good despite his lack of experience, so the Rams will be counting on him to keep the team toe-to-toe with this Philadelphia offense.

Another injury concern for St. Louis is that of Tavon Austin, who's currently listed as questionable to play in Week 5. Jeff Fisher's team could really use the speedy playmaker in a game like this.

Suarez Says:
We will be putting our faith in the Eagles to win and cover the large spread at home.

Yes, the Rams have had an extra week to game plan for this matchup, but we just don't see how they'll be able to keep up offensively with the Eagles, especially after Kelly's team did such a shaky job last week in San Francisco. The offense will want to respond in a positive manner, and should be able to have more success against St. Louis.

So, despite a relatively chalky number, we've opted to add Philadelphia to our NFL picks for Week 5. Will Foles, McCoy, Maclin and company rise to the occasion? We'll have to find out, but we think they will.
