There are nine early-afternoon games on Sunday's slate, and most of them are meaningless. But the Philadelphia Eagles will be happy campers as our preferred Week 17 NFL pick.

So it's come to this. The Philadelphia Eagles have fired head coach Chip Kelly, and from all accounts, it's because of his lack of people skills. Kelly made some interesting personnel choices this offseason, some of which worked out better than others. But he whiffed on RB DeMarco Murray, who ended up voicing his frustrations to owner Jeffrey Lurie during the plane ride home in Week 13, and voilà.

We're not going to bother criticizing the Eagles for this move – we'll leave that up to Bill Belichick. Instead, we've got Philadelphia nominated for the last Daytime BeeVee Award of the regular season. I wonder who will win? And the nominees from out Week 17 NFL odds board are...

New England at Miami +10 (CBS)
Baltimore +9.5 at Cincinnati (FOX)
Jacksonville +6.5 at Houston (CBS)
Pittsburgh at Cleveland +10.5 (CBS)
Philadelphia +3.5 at N.Y. Giants (FOX)

And the winner is... Cleveland! Here to receive the BeeVee is... okay, folks, um, there's... I have to apologize. The first runner-up is Cleveland. The BeeVee winner for Week 17 is... Philadelphia! Listen, folks, just let me take control of this. This is exactly what's on the card. I will take responsibility for this. It was my mistake. It was on the card. A horrible mistake, but the right thing – I can show it to you right here: The first runner-up is Cleveland. It is my mistake. Still a great night.

So Fresh, So Clean
Here's the thing: The Eagles (6-9 SU and ATS) aren't exactly what we were looking for in a value NFL pick this week. We wanted the full-meal deal, a home dog playing a travel-weary team with nothing at stake in Week 17. There are none on Sunday's early schedule. We've chosen the Eagles instead because they get their first taste of freedom without Headmaster Kelly cracking the whip.

That's not nothing. If Murray (3.5 yards per carry) was an ill fit in Kelly's offensive scheme, then he gets a clean slate on Sunday playing for interim head coach Pat Shurmur. Murray said it himself: “It’s a fresh start for everyone,” he told reporters on Thursday. “You get a fresh breath of air and you've just got to make the most of the opportunity.”

The Giants (6-9 SU, 8-6-1 ATS) won't get the same opportunity. It's hard to tell whether or not Tom Coughlin will be back next year; for that matter, this could be the last game as a Giant for several players, including DE Jason Pierre-Paul, who's status for Sunday is up in the air because of an ankle problem. Kids, don't play with fireworks – assuming the guys in London didn't use them all up on New Year's.
