The Chiefs pulled off the biggest stunner of opening week play by defeating the reigning Super Bowl champs on the road, while the Eagles scalped the Redskins in DC. Let's review the NFL odds in this matchup and cash a winner!

Chiefs Attracting Square Play

You knew it was going to happen and sure enough, it did. The NFL odds makers had the number high on the Chiefs to begin with because they knew any team that trounced the reigning Super Bowl champion New England Patriots in Foxboro would get bet heavily. What they didn't know was that the money would pour in regardless of that lofty number and now we see a line that has moved from KC -4 ½ to as high as KC -6 as of this midweek writing. The Chiefs not only slew the dragon but gave TB 12's crew the comeuppance everyone outside of New England desperately wanted to see.

But the problem is that the Patriots were tinkering with some very new parts as four key offensive components were not even on the New England roster last season. Factor in the loss of slot specialists Julian Edelman and Danny Amendola coupled with a curiously gimpy Rob Gronkowski and the KC defense still allowed 27 points. Now, the Chiefs will be without their All-Pro safety Eric Berry who was lost for the season last week with a torn Achilles. That is a huge void that cannot be filled while cornerback Marcus Peters is also contending with a leg injury and won't be 100 percent if he does go on Sunday. That is a defensive backfield with some serious issues that are certain to be exploited by the Philadelphia offense.

Eagles Live Dog

Philadelphia is poised to win this game outright, never mind cover the number. The Philadelphia defensive front should devour the Kansas City offensive line and that will make life miserable for Alex Smith who is not known for his deep shots down the field and will be looking for the short stuff over the middle. Unfortunately for Smith, the top notch Eagles' linebacking corps will be more than capable of disrupting those flair passes to Travis Kelce in the box or swing passes to his tailbacks roaming to the outside as an outlet receiver. It doesn't hurt either that Philly head coach Doug Pederson was the Chief's offensive coordinator just two seasons ago either and knows their system as well as their roster.

The Chiefs are coming off an enormous win and aside from any postseason victories, it will undeniably be their headiest victory of the regular season. If you have been around the game long enough, you know how precarious that spot can be in the National Football League. Now factor in the loss of their best defensive back plus lingering injuries to other key players from last week's contest pitted against an opponent that is locked and loaded defensively and tallied 30 points in a hostile environment in their 30-17 Week 1 win. The Philadelphia Eagles will march into Arrowhead with a point to prove and soar out with a victory. Include the Eagles in your NFL picks - but grab the points just in case.
