We split a pair of prop picks for Sunday Night Football, as Tom Brady couldn’t find another 20 yards through the air. However, we cashed our Gronk pick to break away even, and now we are faced with yet another night of prime-time football as Miami visits Carolina, and I have one final prop to close out Week 10.
There were probably several reasons why the Panthers traded Kelvin Benjamin to the Bills, but the two biggest were probably Greg Olsen getting healthier and the emergence of McCaffrey as a gifted receiver out of the backfield.
McCaffrey got a career-high 15 carries for a respectable 66 yards last week against the Falcons, and at home against the hapless Dolphins I’m assuming the Panthers are going to need him to do a lot more running tonight. Not only is the rookie running back slowly but surely taking snaps and touches away from the aging Jonathan Stewart, but he has been one of the Panthers' best receiving threats this season, period. He’s racked up more than 400 yards receiving this season, which is behind only Devin Funchess among active Panthers receivers.
Against a team that Carolina should dispatch of pretty easily, I see McCaffrey being used a lot again. I’m not predicting 20 touches again, but 15 might be enough to rack up 78 total yards or more against this Dolphins defense. Even though Miami hasn’t been bad against opposing running backs, the Fins have allowed almost 112 yards rushing per contest over their last four games, and if you count receiving yards in that total for the season, they have allowed 128 yards per game to running backs.
Considering the potential game script, and considering McCaffrey has pretty much usurped Stewart as the Panthers’ lead back, I would not be surprised to see McCaffrey at 90 or 100 total yards for this one.Free NFL Pick: Over 77½ (-125)Best Line Offered: Bovada
