Quarterback Teddy Bridgewater makes his first start of the 2022 in Week 5 as the Miami Dolphins visit the rival New York Jets. Check out our top Dolphins-Jets picks below.

With star QB Tua Tagovailoa ruled out due to a concussion, journeyman Bridgewater draws the start for the 3-1 Dolphins. Miami suffered its first loss of the season on Thursday Night Football in Week 4 but Bridgewater has now had a full week of prep with head coach Mike McDaniel.

The Jets claimed their second win of the season as QB Zach Wilson returned from injury. Both of their wins came on the road over the Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers.

Miami has won four straight games over New York in the head-to-head series.

Dolphins vs. Jets Odds

Dolphins vs. Jets Odds Analysis

The Dolphins opened as 6-point favorites but that line is down to a consensus of 3.5 points as of Sunday morning. However, Miami has still drawn 63% of the tickets and 62% of the handle.

The Over/Under dropped slightly from 45.5 to 45. Just over 50% of the tickets are on the Over but the Under has drawn 55% of the handle.

Dolphins vs. Jets Picks

  • Over/Under: Under 46 (-110 via DraftKings)
  • Prop bet: Zach Wilson Under 20.5 completions (-135 via DraftKings)

Dolphins vs. Jets ATS Pick

Dolphins -3 (-115) ★★

Without Tua, the Dolphins wouldn’t be 3-1 this season. However, Teddy Bridgewater is not a big downgrade, considering his experience as an NFL starter. Last season, Bridgewater threw 18 touchdowns and just seven interceptions while with the Broncos.

The Dolphins have dominated the Jets recently, both straight-up and against the spread. The Dolphins have won eight of the last 10 matchups, and they have covered seven times. Last year, the Dolphins won by seven twice, and they won by 17 and 24 in 2020.

Bridgewater is good enough to do what he has to against the Jets. Additionally, Xavien Howard is day-to-day. If he plays, the Jets are going to have a hard time moving the ball.

Dolphins vs. Jets O/U Pick

Under 46 (-110) ★★★★

In their last eight matchups, there has only been one game to go Over 46. With Tua out, it doesn’t really make sense that this number is where it is. Both teams have had just one game go above this number this season. Perhaps this is a trap from oddsmakers, but it really feels too easy.

Wilson immediately made the Jets’ offense better, but that doesn’t mean they’re doing anything to write home about. The Dolphins are allowing just 22.8 points per game, and it is hard to imagine their offense going above their season average of 24.5 without Tua at the helm.

Dolphins vs. Jets Prop Pick

Wilson Under 20.5 completions (-135) ★★★

Wilson has completed more than 20 passes exactly twice in his career. His completions Under has hit in nine of his last 10 games overall.

With Tua out, the Jets won’t find themselves in a shootout, which means it’s likely that Wilson completes passes in line with what he has done for the majority of his career. He finished last week 18 of 36. Those were the fourth-most passing attempts of his career, and he still managed to hit the Under on completions.
