The Seattle Seahawks travel three time zones east for a 10 AM body time start against the Carolina Panthers, who at 15-1 SU, 12-5 ATS had the best record in the league. These two met earlier this season in Seattle on October 18th when Carolina emerged with a 27-23 victory.

Seattle Seahawks vs. Carolina Panthers (-2-) 1:05 EST FOXTV
That game was only one of five contests in the first half of the season in which the Seahawks blew fourth quarter leads. This is a tough spot for Seattle to gain their revenge. But after last week’s results, they may just be the “chosen one” to return to the Super Bowl.

What a season for QB Newton and the Carolina Panthers. After Newton’s near brush with death in late 2014, he emerged as a new QB this season. He vowed to have a better leadership role, to be a dual threat, and to take care of the football. The 15-1 SU record was outstanding, but the Panthers were truly dominant on this field where they went 8-0 SU, 6-2 ATS, while outgaining the opposition by an average of 158 YPG. But as good as those Carolina stats were, they are only equal to that of the Seattle team who super surged down the stretch in the late going. While Carolina enters off a momentum building 38-10 victory on this field over Tampa Bay, it is hard to match the momentum with which Seattle enters this game.

In last week’s 10-9 victory in the frozen tundra of Minnesota, it looked for all the world that the Seahawks would be making an early exit from the playoffs. But a Minnesota field goal that was duck hooked in the closing seconds gave Seattle life, and brings them to Carolina. It can be argued that no one was playing better ball in the second half of the season than the two time Super Bowl participant Seattle Seahawks. Last week, they entered on a dominating 6-1 SU ATS run, in which they averaged 32 PPG on 404 offensive yards. The rush defense is the best of the remaining playoff teams at 80/3.5. They are also the best remaining defense in the playoffs at 17 PPG, while allowing just 286 YPG. Entering their game at Minnesota, they had won five consecutive road games by an average of 22 PPG. Clearly their experience will serve them well in this contest. Finally, one cannot ignore the outstanding play of QB Wilson, who has performed at his best when challenged the most with an 11-2 ATS underdog log.

I invite you to put the NFL odds in your favor and join me in my NFL pick on the Seattle Seahawks.
