After losing to the Broncos in the AFC Title game last season, the Patriots have spent this offseason beefing up their defense. Will you bet on them to get back to the championship and beat Denver?

Super Bowl (+900)
At Bovada Sportsbook, the Patriots are behind only the Seahawks, Broncos and 49ers in the Super Bowl Futures. This is a pretty fair price, and it could also be a very valuable price if the Pats are healthy and defending. Rob Gronkowski looks like he is on track to being ready by Week 1 of the season, and as long as he is ready to go, the Pats have a ton of offensive upside this season. As long as Danny Amendola, Aaron Dobson and Julian Edelman remain healthy, this team has a ton of offensive depth to throw at AFC opponents. These guys staying healthy may be the bigger question, however if they can all play 14 or 15 games, this Pats team looks to be a solid NFL pick to best Peyton Manning as any team in the NFL. Their defense has been revamped this offseason, and it looks like it’s been built specifically to beat the Broncos.

AFC (+300)
Only the Broncos are better NFL odds favorites to win the AFC, and even though they have gotten better this offseason, the Patriots’ secondary is going to try and find the formula to beat Manning. New England already has a solid pass rush, but now they have a bunch of shutdown defenders in their secondary. The Pats added Brandon Browner, Patrick Chung and Darrelle Revis to an already solid secondary, and adding these guys to Devin McCourty in that secondary is going to give any team trouble. As long as Revis can give them some of the same magic he gave the Jets all those years ago, and as long as Browner can represent that #1 corner role, the Pats’ defense is going to be tough to score on.

AFC East (-275)
Obviously the Patriots could have a lot of value in the Super Bowl and conference future odds, however their divisional futures are a different story. Even though they are huge favorites in a division that may be one of the worst in football, their price of -275 is chalked pretty high. In any sort of futures wager, there is always a ton of risk involved because you’re wagering on an entire season. I would be willing to guess that at multiple times during the season, you’ll be able to get the Patriots as a moneyline favorite at a price of -275 or better. This would be a much less volatile wager than betting the Pats to win the division, and you’d have as good or better value. Don’t waste your time or money on wagering on the Pats to win the division with your sports picks. Even though they are almost a lock to win the division, there will be better chances to grab some value with them during the season.
