We have covered several future odds and season long player props for our Countdown to Kickoff Series here at Sportsbook Review. However, it’s time for my one and only team win total prop, and it’s for the cream of the crop in the AFC South, the Tennessee Titans at 8 ½.
With Andrew Luck sitting out Week 1 and probably beyond, the Indianapolis Colts are dealing with their fair share of problems. The Texans might sink into offensive oblivion until Deshaun Watson is ready to play, which may put them out of the divisional race by midseason. The Jaguars, well, are the Jaguars. I could easily see the Titans going 4-2, or even 5-1 if everything falls their way in this division.
Even coming off a 9-7 season isn’t the best part of this prop. The Titans only won two of their six divisional games last season, and they didn’t beat the Colts in either game they played them.
Now with an improved defense and an offense with another year under Marcus Mariota, the Titans are set up better than any other team in their division, and they are going to get at least three wins against their division.
NFC West and AFC North
For the sake of the argument, let’s say the Titans win only three divisional games this season. That means we need to find six wins among the Titans’ other 12 games. They do have the tough task of playing the AFC North this season, and they will likely lose their road game against the Steelers. However, they play the Ravens and Bengals at home, two winnable games. They could very easily beat the Browns on the road too. Let’s say they finish 3-1 against the AFC North.
The tough part will be the NFC West, simply because they will have to travel from Nashville to the Pacific time against the 49ers and Cardinals. Say they split those two, lose at home against the Seahawks in Week 3, and are able to beat the Rams at home in Week 16.
If you’re keeping track at home, that’s eight total wins so far without counting their games against the Raiders in Week 1 and the Dolphins on the road in Week 5.
Winning the game down in Miami will be tough, but in my opinion, not as tough as beating the Raiders in Week 1 at home. However, both are doable, as is winning more than three divisional games.
So, even though the road looks tough, there are many ways the Titans can get to nine or more wins, and the sportsbooks agree with me. At Bovada sportsbook, the chalk is up to -175 for the over on this one, and other books have moved their totals for the Titans to 9. However, at 8 ½, it’s juice I’m willing to take with this talented team.Free NFL Pick: OVER 8 ½ (-175)Best Line Offered: at Bovada
