Oh, baby, it’s finally time for football! After a long summer of sub-par MLB Props and no pigskin, it’s that time once again. With only a week remaining before football season, it is time to release my seven best player/team props and futures picks for the season.
There is almost nothing Aaron Rodgers can’t do. With an immensely banged up receiving core in 2016, he still posted his second most passing yards ever with 4,428. Conventional wisdom says that the Packers won’t have to throw as much this season, but they could also continue to chuck the pigskin with a healthy stable of weapons. With Jordy Nelson back and healthy, Randall Cobb poised for a bounce back season, and Davante Adams looking like a breakout candidate. What’s not to like about Rodgers?
Last season Adrian Peterson looked old, slow and broken down after injury. However, the 32-year-old is getting another shot with the Saints, but this total from Bovada forgets about the presence of Mark Ingram and the passing prowess of the Saints. Peterson could very well turn back the clock and make this prop seem like a value on the over, but there is a chance he is as old and broken down as he showed in 2016.
Most Passing Yards This Season
This is my one and only future odds play for players this season and with guys like Drew Brees (+350), Tom Brady (+550), and Aaron Rodgers (+700) as the three chalkiest plays for the 2017 season, it is going to be a wild ride. However, I do think I have a beat on the passing leader winner this season, so stay tuned!
Tennessee Titans O/U 8 ½ Wins
The Tennessee Titans could underwhelm this season, but they have been a sexy pick this season in football circles, and with their horrible division and Andrew Luck’s shoulder issue in Indianapolis, the Titans could sweep their division if they play up to par. If they can add some more non-division and non-conference wins, this is an over play if I’ve ever seen one, despite the chalk on the over at betting lines around -170.
DeAndre Hopkins O/U 1100 Passing Yards
Despite having to deal with some of the worst quarterback play of any top-tier receiver in 2016, DeAndre Hopkins is back in 2017 with a receiving yards total of 1100 yards. He posted 954 yards on 150 targets last year, but if he can get some consistent quarterback play, there is a chance he could rebound from that. However, Tom Savage is hard to trust and Bill O’Brien could play quarterback roulette as well, which makes this pick valuable. However, you have to stay tuned to see which side holds that value!
DeVonta Freeman O/U 900 Rushing Yards
Last season DeVonta Freeman posted yet another 1000-yard season, and he got paid for it. However, the presence of Tevin Coleman and the Falcons’ prolific passing game has the sportsbooks worried about Freeman’s touches this season. Which side of this 900-yard total should you like. Check out this play on Friday after the Thursday night game.
Donte Moncrief O/U 7 Touchdowns
Andrew Luck’s shoulder has been the talk of the town here in Indianapolis over the last three or four months. The Colts just panicked and traded Phillip Dorsett for Jacoby Brissett, and it appears Luck is going to miss at least the first two or three games of the season. I usually don’t condone touchdown props because of how random they are, but this one holds value and will be our final season prop released before Sunday, September 10th.
