Most recreational sports bettors wait until right before kickoff to get down on their NFL picks. But why not get a jump on things and get a juicy early number that can determine a winning week from a losing one? Let’s take a look at the games that are already moving.

49ers at Bears

The NFL odds makers opened up the lowly Bears as 4½-point favorites against the woeful 49ers. But the specter of recently acquired Jimmy Garoppolo waiting to ascend to starter status has the sharps already banking on the underdog. Garoppolo took over for the bruised and battered C.J. Beathard with barely a minute remaining last week and made the most of his three plays under center, culminating in a 10-yard touchdown pass to Louis Murphy. Although that did nothing to change the outcome of the 24-13 loss to Seattle, it did offer suffering Niners’ fans a glimmer of hope. The line at most of the major online sportsbooks has dropped to 3½, but if you are buying into Jimmy G starting this game then get on over to BetOnline, where you can get San Francisco +4 in your NFL picks.

Colts at Jaguars

The Jaguars opened as 7½-point favorites, but that line is long gone and impossible to find. The number has spiked to as high as 10½ at 5Dimes but all the other majors are dealing the Jags at -9½ as of this Tuesday morning writing. Starting cornerback Rashaan Melvin will not be suiting up for the Colts but outside of that all I can see is that the public, sharps or a combination of both believe Jacksonville’s defense will thoroughly suffocate Indy’s offense.

Chiefs at Jets

Kansas City has gone from defeating the defending Super Bowl champs on the road in its opening game to losing outright and failing to cover the number in five of its last six. Apparently, bettors are fed up as evidenced by the drop from KC as a 4½-point road favorite to 3-point road chalk over the Jets. After several gritty performances by Gang Green where they covered the spread in seven straight contests, New York has lost and failed to cover in its last two games. If you like the home dog, click on over to Bovada or Intertops, both are dealing the Jets at +3½, because that hook could be the difference between pushing and covering.

Rams at Cardinals

The Rams are back in everyone’s good graces after rebounding from a 24-7 loss to the Vikings to a solid 26-20 win and cover over the Saints last week. That effort has inspired the public to send it in on LA as the line has gone from -5½ to touchdown favorites in virtually all of the top online sportsbooks. Interesting, because the Cardinals also had an impressive win, defeating the widely heralded Jaguars last week 27-24 as 6-point home dogs. If you want to go against the grain, then shop on over to 5Dimes where they are dealing the Redbirds at +7½ but they will make you pay -140 for the privilege.
