We have a ton of action on the NFL props for Week 16, and after a successful season of prop betting, let’s close out the season right. With only two weeks of the regular season left, I have a pair of picks for the Sunday afternoon slate that both hold strong value.

Matt Stafford O/U 265 ½ Passing Yards

The Lions are on the road this week against the ever-disappointing Bengals, but Matt Stafford has some nice upside for the Lions, and I think Bovada sportsbook is ignoring that.

Stafford has been fantastic on the road this season outside of his first two road games. Over the Lions’ last five road games, Stafford is averaging 329 passing yards per game, and the Bengals aren’t the type of secondary that can completely shut out Stafford.

After a hot start to the season, where they held opposing quarterbacks to less than 200 passing yards in four of their first five games, things have been falling apart some on the back end of the Cincinnati defense.

The Bengals have allowed over 266 passing yards per game over the last four weeks, and against a diverse passing attack from the Lions, I could see Stafford letting it go 40 times this week. Add the over to your NFL picks for this Christmas Eve NFL slate.

Philip Rivers O/U 267 ½ Passing Yards

Speaking of letting it fly on Sunday, Philip Rivers falls right into that category against the sorry and sad New York Jets secondary.

So far this season the Jets have given up more than 3400 passing yards and while that isn’t bad compared to the rest of the league, they have also given up 27 passing touchdowns. That’s tied for the second-most of all 32 NFL teams.

Needless to say, the old gunslinger Rivers is going to be testing and probing the Jets’ defense all game, and if you think Stafford has a diverse offense, Rivers has five or six guys that have the potential to go for big plays every snap.

Not only that, but Rivers has been hot lately outside of last week against a strong Chiefs defense on the road. Before Week 15, Rivers was averaging over 365 passing yards per game.

The cross-country 1 PM start time is a bit of a concern with this one, as well as being on the road in general. Rivers is averaging 287 passing yards per game when he plays in Los Angeles, but on the road over seven games Rivers is averaging just 260 passing yards.

However, with the quality of the Jets’ secondary lacking, as well as a strong need for a win to stay in the playoff hunt heading in to the final week of the regular season, I see Rivers taking over this one despite being on the road and the time zone change.
